We only had two days in Florence and were overwhelmed by how much there was to experience there. We wrote to Freya's Florence Tours and were connected with Constance, our favorite tour guide of our life. I'm not exaggerating. Constance was AMAZING. In just one afternoon tour, she made our understanding of Florence (and Italy) more special than we could... More

We were so happy that we did this. Freya was very accommodating accepting a last minute reservation and tailoring the tour to what we wanted to see. Our guide Nicholas was excellent. He was extremely knowledgable and great with the kids. Both the 17 year old and 9 year old stayed engaged for the full 5 hours - no small... More

Traveled with 2 families to Florence - There were 9 total in our group ranging from adults, to teens, to a 3.5 year old. Our guide Sara was wonderful! She came to our apartment on time, was organized, and catered the tour to our needs. During our 1/2 day walking tour, she kept all of our attention, showed us som... More

We had the most wonderful two days visiting Florence with Freya's! We visited the Accademia with Sara and the Uffizi with Suzanne. They both geared the tour to fit our children ages 10 & 15. They are both passionate and very knowledgeable!! Two days so well spent with Freya's!!!

My wife and I visited Florence in July during our Italy trip. We booked 4 private tours with Freya’s (6 months in advance!) based on our friend’s recommendation. After short email conversation, they customized the standard tours based on our interests and preferences, and proposed us with the great itinerary. We started with the marvelous tours at the Uffizi Gallery... More

Although this is advertised as tours of Florence you can also arrange a tour of Sienna. Both were absolutely fascinating and the tour of Sienna, just as the city was gearing up for the second Palio, was probably the highlight of the holiday. Nothing was too much trouble for the guides who were a) locals b) extremely well informed about... More

Veronica was a fabulous guide, a font of knowledge about art and the city. She customized the conversation and the sites we saw on the fly, creating a unique experience for my two kids, ages 8 and 10. She made David and the Accademia relatable for them, and then guided them through the Mercato Centrale, Santa Maria Novella, and off... More

We had a wonderful family tour in florence. Katia was great with the kids and really got down to there level. She was engaging and full of fun and the kids learnt very interesting stories about florence. A good way to discover Florence and have some fun with the kids. Our children are 7,9,11. We were an extended family of 8 and Nicholas, our guide, was excellent, informative and fully engaged the younger members (aged 15,13, 11). Our tour culminated with a visit to the Academia to see the David. Absolutely stunning. Highly recommended.

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
