Bought my tickets, walked immediately into the gift shop and bought an inexpensive picture book of the Uffizi Gallery. We spent time walking through doing a “scavenger hunt” to find pictures that match that of the book. The book we found even had a map....More
You cannot travel to Florence and not visit the Uffizi. I would highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance. The queue for this museum can be extraordinarily long even in the off season. It is also likely the best place to take a picture of the...More
It’s popularity makes for a somewhat crazy experience. Plan to focus on the 2nd floor- it is far more efficient than the thematically-oriented first floor. My favorite: Sienese school from14th century.
A wonderful gallery with some breathtaking art which is easily available for viewing.
Amazing viewing areas.
A great restaurant on the top floor with good food and wonderful views.
The down side were rude tourists using flash photography around the classic art and getting rude...More
Tougher to get into than your flight from Heathrow. There’s the jackets-off and the pockets emptied. Then there’s the X-ray, then the metal detectors. If those security guys like you, they’ll let you pass to part with €12. And they scan your ticket when you...More
Everyone has said it all!
I was recommended that picking us a tour would help. I thought Audio tour would suffice!
Apart from 6€ they want your passport or driving licence .. WTF!
I had neither but coped!
Enjoyable 2.5 hours :)
A museum you shouldn't miss if visiting Florence! Be aware that the collections presented are exhaustive and if you are found of Renaissance, it could take a whole day to visit this museum. I would recommend this time of year to visit, since we didn't...More

Definetely, photos-but no flash. We were happy to have a guide. Our guide was extremely knowledgable, pin pointed the most important pieces, and better than an audioguide, can address your questions. Then following the tour (2 hours) you are free to roam the galleries at your own pace.
Visiting the Accademia and Uffizi on Easter Monday (1 Reply)
The websites for Accademia and Uffizi Galleries state that they are closed on Mondays, but tickets for Easter Monday are being offered. I read on another site that sometime the Museums are open on a Monday during holiday times. Does anyone know if they will be open on Easter Monday, 2015? Thanks!

early entry tours Uffizi Galleries (1 Reply)
Does anyone know of any tours that go early to the Uffiizi galleries - we are heaing to Florence in July so looking at ways to avoid being in line too long. I found 1 tour on Keys of Florence but according to Uffizi website the gallery opens at 8:15 and this tour meets at 8:20 so obviously after the gallery is open. Thanks in advance Lisa

You can also get tickets online on the official site to avoid the queues. It seems easier and cheaper than paying for a tour you are not actually interested in.
