Neighborhood: Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.

A Florence hidden gem! There are many famous museums in this city but we often forget about the smaller museums and galleries that are just as worth the visit.

The Museo de'Medici is a quaint museum just a stone's throw away from the Duomo. It has multiple rooms dedicated to the most powerful Florentine family, with artifacts ranging from written documents, intricate dresses, and recreations of the crowns that adorned the family throughout the ages. You can scan QR codes at each artifact and listen to an audiobook to get more information!

The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend spending time one afternoon to go to this museum, it's worth the visit!

The museum is actually made of a few rooms in one level. It is a patchwork of a few items (portraits, letters, wardrobes...) with explanations that seems.a narrow extract of some specialist of the history. The worst is the room where there is a 10 MN film showing the descendance tree of Medicis family (this part is actually good) followed by an extract of a discussion with an history profesore that talks about generalities on a specific period. The full discussion probably makes sense and is interesting but is more decorative than informative. There is a big small scale replica of a battle that is probably more an artistic attempt (even if quite simple in it's execution) than a genuine reconstitution. Super desapointed ! Felt I really waisted the 9 eur entrance !

This exciting new museum has just blossomed in the heart of Florence.
La Rotonda del Brunelleschi is exceptional and the staff is incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable, it was delightful to chat with the owner about the Medici’s fashion. Unlike most tourist-grabbing places in Florence, this museum provides with genuine, insightful and fun insights on one of the most famous dynasties of the world.

Don’t waste your time. Of all the museums we visited in Florence this was by far the worst. Rubbish exhibitions- providing zero education or insight. The ‘science’ section included a moth-eaten bat and a sparrow’s brain in formaldehyde. Also includes some toy soldiers masquerading as a ‘battle scene’. I felt completely ripped off. 12 minutes of my life I will never get back.

The museum was very simple with a few digital pictures of important art work and a lot of posters for reading.

We pain 9 Euros to see four rooms with very few artefacts, Well meaning staff did their best but this place is appalling value. Compare with the Palazzo Vecchia at 12 Euros which has far more Medici relevance.

I feel bad writing this review because there was a very kind and knowledgeable gentleman who was working inside the 'museum' who I could tell really wanted us to enjoy our experience, but there was literally nothing in this 'museum.' Everything was a 'reproduction' or 'recreation' of an actual piece, and I gained nothing from visiting here other than a reprieve from the rain.

The Medici family had a huge influence in Florence and their history is interesting. If you wanna learn about it go read up on it online do not spend €9 at this place. It was very small and had very little content.
