Massimo ( aka Max) was a wonderful guide! He connected with my niece (17) and nephew ( 15) as well as the adults. My niece was able to speak with Massimo in Italian. He is very knowledgeable and we could feel his passion! Very personable and funny! We can't wait to return and we will be contacting Massimo when we... More

We looked at 3x tours and decided a full day tour with our own driver would work better. 4 to 6 X would be a no brainer! I can highly recommend Max. He is a good local guide, he is knowledgable on history, where to go and is generally friendly guy. We had a most enjoyable full day for €300... More

Great tour, Max was knowledgable and his English was good enough to understand easily. We went to some really nice places recommended by Max but options were flexible so we could do what we wanted to do.

The title of the review said it all, and is absolutely true, but here are the details: My wife and I have never been to Italy. I initially just wanted to go to Florence for a few days but after speaking to some friends, we figured we needed to go to Rome and Venice as well. I didn't really want... More

I was part of a big group and did daily tours for 4 days (Venice, Tuscany, Rome and Pompeii-Sorrento), Massimo is our driver/tour guide and offered very good suggestions for our trip esp in Tuscany. He and the other guys are very friendly and the tours were very well-coordinated. Our tour guides in Rome and Pompeii (Teo and Pina, respectively)... More

This was a great experience from the beginning of the booking process with Max, to the drive with Massimo from Venice to Florence with stops at Lamborghini and Ferrari along the way! Max was knowledgeable, patient, kind and super helpful during the planning process and Massimo was fabulous! He was friendly, helpful and made some terrific recommendations! We would definitely... I taught a retreat with 8 women from the US attending. Boy was I lucky that I hired Tuscany in Tour to handle things for me. Max, the owner, is super responsive and patient. They picked everyone up in Florence to bring them to a small town in Tuscany and then we arranged a trip to Sienna and San Gimignano... More

I first contacted Max a couple months before the trip to have him plan out a custom itinerary for 11 days in Italy. He always responded within 24 hours which was already a good indication of what was to come. After reading the itinerary that Max put together, I submitted the deposit for the tour for my family and was... More

I cant say enough about the wonderful sights, tour guides, drivers, food and wine that Max our trip planner helped organize along with my dear wife. Our experiences started with our tour guide Valentina (excellent) filled us with the history and culture of Rome. And it continued with Lina in Pompeii and the island of Capri. The Amalfi coast, amazing... More

We(3 couples) arranged an 8 day trip from Rome to Sorrento to the Amalfi Coast to a small town inland. Max was beyond patient when answering many questions and his recommendations were spot on. We had drivers and tour guides in each town and all were fabulous. Valentina in Rome was awesome and had a wealth of information to share... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
