The monument, although good, didn't seem like a big deal to me. For me, it served as a viewpoint over the Arno River and the city of Florence. You will see it no matter what during your visit because it is one of the most touristic and classic areas of this very famous city.

La Fontana Di Benvenuto Cellini is located about mid-way on the Ponte Vecchio. Cellini was a 16th century sculptor and author. He also was a goldsmith which explains why this monument is situated on this bridge. Ponte Vecchio is full of jewellery stores!

I can disassociate a work of art from its creator and view it only as a standalone object. For example, we admire Venus of Milo without knowing it’s a sculptor. So there is nothing wrong with exhibiting, praising, and admiring Cellini's statues, but I can't agree to worship the memory of a multiple killer on the Ponte Vecchio.
Cellini chose a rather peculiar way of building a career. He was known to have stabbed to death three rival goldsmiths. He escaped all three murders though he had the death sentence for the first one. I wrote, that knowingly because I think he could have taken more victims with his temper. True, he had to flee, but because of his talent, he was welcomed in other cities with open arms. Eventually, he was jailed for a crime he probably didn't commit. He was accused of taking papal treasures in Rome during the 1537 troubled times. Returning to Florence received the patronage of Cosimo I de 'Medici, and with his support, created his most famous work, which is considered the peak of his career, Perseus with the head of Medusa. I do not question Cellini's genius, and I regard his works as the shared treasure of humanity, but I cannot agree to commemorate someone who, for an abject reason, has killed three people. The Cellini Fountain, decorated with a sculptor's bust, stands in the middle of the Ponte Vecchio. When I looked at it, I tried to abstract and see only the brilliant goldsmith in Cellini, but I couldn't forget the man behind the artist.

The monumental fountain celebrated 400th anniversary of Benvenuto Cellini's birth in Florence on 3 November 1500.

Nothing spectacular but great views

This monument fountain, though not large, stands impressively halfway along the bridge, with picture perfect views of the River Arno behind.
Built to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the birth of Benvenuto Cellini in 1500, it was inaugurated in May 1901. Most definitely worth stopping to appreciate the workmanship and its cool water.

In the mid-section of Ponte Vechio over Arno River (Fiume Arno), a bronz bust of Benvenuto Cellini and surrounding fountain attracts small crowds. Cellini was a master goldsmith, sculptor, and artist with his masterpieces included Nymph of Fountainebleau at Louvre Museum and the bronze statue of "Perseus with the Head of Medusa" near David statue in Piazza del Signoria. We visited Cellini Fountain in September 2018 while strolling along Ponte Vechio over Arno River. It is worth walking along Ponte Vechio and seeing the fountain while admiring the views of Firenze and Arno River.

This is a lovely little fountain, located on Pento Veccio, overlooking the Arno river.
While not spectacular, it's the best looking thing on the bridge.

This monument to Benvenuto Cellini is located mid-span on Ponte Vecchio on the downstream side of the walkway. This combination monument/fountain was dedicated in 1901, the 400th anniversary of his birth.
The fountain is topped with a bust of Cellini, underneath a plaque dedicated to Cellini from the Goldsmiths of Florence. Around the base of the monument is the fountain proper, it consists of 4 wrought iron half shell basins that catch the water. Surrounding the entire monument/fountain is a wrought-iron fence that has the ubiquitous padlocks all over it.

There are really many people on this bridge and it is difficult to see this statue, plus it obscures the view of the Arno river. I think it would be interesting to move this statue
