Silvia was our wonderful guide on a personal tour through Florence’s food scene and the city’s incredible art and historic properties. We loved her enthusiasm about Firenze as one of the most significant cultural influences in the history of Western Civilization. She put together a one-of-a-kind tour, meeting all the requests made by this food writer and art historian who wanted nothing more than to become totally immersed in the culture of Tuscany and Firenze. I bow to you, Silvia, and say BRAVA, BRAVISSIMA. We made a lifelong friend and look forward to connecting with Silvia again soon.

We had only one day to enjoy Florence while traveling between Rome and another region. We were fortunate to book a half-day tour with Silvia before arriving.

Silvia is a fantastic guide. She showed our family a ton of Florence in just three hours and did a wonderful job of tailoring the tour to our personal interests. Our three kids (ages 16, 12, and 10) all really enjoyed the tour as well.

One of our favorite parts of the tour was the opportunity to see products being made in a couple of artisan shops. We went to one leather store where a couple of people were making belts and also to a stationery shop where we got to see a demonstration of how to make marbled paper. The latter stop was definitely a favorite for our kids, who got to pick the colors used to dye the paper and then chose sections of the dyed paper to serve as the covers for sketch books that we purchased (and were ready within a few hours). (There was no expectation that we'd buy the books or anything.) For what it's worth, my understanding is that these types of artisan demonstrations don't necessarily happen at all times of day; it might be worth mentioning early on if it's the type of thing you'd want to see.

In addition to those stops, we spent time outside the Duomo and, particularly, at the bronze doors (aka the Gold Doors aka the Gates of Paradise), saw the Medici Chapels at the Basilica of San Lorenzo, went to the Ponte Vecchio, and walked through many streets of Florence. Throughout, Silvia was a fount of information. Having the time with Silvia had a huge impact on our enjoyment of the city and our ability to pack as much as possible into the day we had there (both during and after our time with her).

In addition to an excellent tour, Silvia also recommended an outstanding restaurant (Osteria del Pavone) for dinner; my daughter hasn't stopped talking about the steak, which was exemplary, though all the food was delicious. And she recommended a great shop (Noi) for leather purses, wallets, shoes, etc.

Finally, I'd add that my wife booked the tour and I was shocked, after the fact, to find out how reasonable Silvia's rates are.

We stayed with Silvia for about a week in late summer 2019. The home and setting exceeded expectations but that was nothing compared to getting to know our host. Silvia greeted us with wine, cheese and fruit then spent time asking about us and what wed like to do and see while in Tuscany. She then guided us to all the hidden treasures of the regions, She also shared the great local restaurants and even made reservations for us. Everywhere we went we were treated like family because Silvia sent us. We had the best seats, the best times and the best service - all because we were referred by Silvia. Our experience was already going to be great - she made it the trip of a lifetime!

We had the good fortune of enjoying Florence for 7 days and for 4 of those days, our experience was greatly enriched by our guide, Silvia Ponticelli. Silvia’s knowledge, energy, and love of Florence was in evidence every minute that we were with her. We will be back again to learn more from Silvia in the future!

Outstanding quide
Two tours in one week
Artisan tour and a Medici familiy history tour.
Excellent tailoring to of a diverse groups intrests, including teenagers.
great knowedge and a better sense of humour
A subliminal point was how many postive interactions there were to Silvia on each tour from other guides, security guards ,Maitre d at restaurants which spoke volumes to her character .
Would absolutely use her again in a heart beat, and i am really picky.

On two occasions in 2019 my family was in Florence. Absolutely made all the difference in the enjoyment of our visits. She is very knowledgeable, was very attentive to what were our interests and planned our tours accordingly and all in all was a pleasure to be with. More like a friend who's a local than a paid guide. And for those who don't speak Italian or French, her English was impeccable.

This was our second time with Silvia, we met her in 2018, a sincere and professional guide indeed. She suggested to take us for day tour to both Siena and Lucca where we had 2 days of wonderful sightseeing, shopping with fabulous lunch arranged by Silvia. We will definitely come back to Florence to further explore more surrounding cities again soon.

My husband and I only had one full day in Florence on our trip there in September. We wanted to spend four hours of that day seeing the highlights of Florence, including visiting the Uffizi and the Accademia, and have the rest of the day to explore on our own. Silvia accomodated us in every way, and I recommend her highly. She is professional, knowledgeable and passionate about Florence, and we enjoyed our informative tour immensely. She arranged for everything, including special entry tickets for the Uffizi and the Accademia which saved us from long waits. She recommended traditional “local” restaurants for us and arranged for a fabulous driver who drove us around the Tuscany countryside the next day. What a perfect trip to Florence! Grazie mille, Silvia!

3 adults and 2 teens had an amazing 2 days with Silva. We toured Uffizi for 3 hrs. on a Tuesday evening at Silvia's urging and had the museum almost to ourselves!! Highly recommend avoiding the crowds and seeing the museum in the evening (followed by a lovely dinner...). Next morning toured Medici chapel, Academia and Santa Croce in 3 hours. Silvia was so informative about history, architecture and art of Florence. Our daughters loved both days with Silvia as well. Highly recommend learning about Florence with Silvia!!

Silvia is an amazing guide. She took us to a journey through the centuries their artists and gossip.
At the end we were exhausted but enriched with all the passion for Firenze and its history Silvia was able to transfer us.
She also was very good in recommending us delicious places to have real typical Tuscany dishes.
