Across the river from the main part of Florence, this piazza feels more relaxed, and effectively a different town. In the evening the whole place is busy with people eating and drinking in the mid ranged restaurants that ring the piazza. Not far from the Ponte Vecchio bridge, it is well with walking distance of the main city centre.

We passed through this piazza during the day whilst sight-seeing and it was a nice spot for some rest bite. We also returned one evening to dine at one the restaurants in the square which was also very good. The restaurants on the square were busier on the evening but I felt this just added to the nice vibe and... More

had a lovely hour or so here where my husband introduced me to Campari - enjoyed that and enjoyed the atmosphere of the Piazza with many locals hanging out and strolling through

Just stumbled up on this "piaza" by chance in late spring. Lots of bars, reasonable prices, pretty much fueld by locals, good live music sessions

Beautiful piazza with old trees and many restaurants, lots of kids and dogs during the day. Mostly locals -- not too many tourists make it here. Late at night (after 9 p.m.) it's completely taken over by 20-somethings and foreign college kids, which is OK -- we heard some excellent music in the bars. I'm told by locals that at... More

The Piazza Santo Spirito i a lovely small square in th etraditional sense of the word. Frequented by locals and tourists alike, it is a beautiful and peaceful square with restaurants and cafes where you can enjoy a good meal and interact with people. Nice!

To me the nicest piazza in Florence.. children playing.. dogs chasing... Italians having discussions.. green.. Good meals and nice trattorias.. ice cream... close you eyes half and picture this back into the 1950's... and nothing has changed. One minus from excellent because of the African salesmen and a few noisy local drunks at the fountain that also find this the... More

This was my favourite Piazza in Florence. It had such a chilled and local vibe and we had two lovely evenings both times we visited. The happy hours in the bars were so good and it's cheaper for both food and drink than the more touristy piazzas. I loved all the restaurants which had little terraced areas outside in the... More

When there is a market open with vendors this piazza is a blast. We shopped and snacked for about an hour. The standout was a baker with fresh made pastries both sweet and savory. We purchased enough for breakfast in our temporary apartment the next day.

We enjoyed this piazza as it had a nice casual feel. With several restaurants in and around the square there were several options to choose at night. There seemed to be a good mix of visitors and locals, which made the experience better.

Neighborhood Profile
Pitti
Pitti is a neighborhood characterized by art and history. Renaissance architecture such as Pitti Palace, which houses five museums alone, introduces visitors to the green lungs of spectacular Boboli Gardens. Any visitor can wander through statues, fountains, and panoramic viewpoints. Around the garden, treasures like the Museum of Natural History of the Specola and Villa Bardini guide guests through Florence as the cradle of the Renaissance. End the day with an aperitif in Piazza della Passera or the more romantic Forte di Belvedere, which offers an amazing panoramic view of the entire city.
