Really enjoyed the tour as it included access to various areas not normally open and available to the general public, the guide Angela was really friendly and informative not only about the cathedral and its history but also the city of Florence. A thoroughly enjoyable tour with amazing views from the dome.

This tour was our favorite in Italy. The tour guide knew her history and she had it mixed with enough humor to make it great. She was able to answer all our questions and pace us for the climb and views, which were specactular. The Gelatto at the end was wonderful. Well worth the money and not to be disappointed.

The skip-the-line tour was great! Lines were long as it was, so it was great to be able to go into the basilica right away. Our guide was great. The views were great! The climb was challenging but well worth it. Would do it again.

We had an excellent tour, highly recommend. We had access to places not open to the general public, a highly knowledgeable guide, up-close view of the dome frescoes!

Our guide, Christina, was fabulous. We had special access to two areas off-limit to most tours; the best was about 1/3 of the way up the climb, where we were able to go out on a walkway on the exterior of the cathedral. So, pictures not only of Florence laid out before you, but also the facade of the cathedral... More

The dome climb was definitely worth it. By going private tour, we got additional access inside Il Duomo and on the terrace. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The climb was broken into three stages which made it easier for those of us not doing a stair master everyday. The best part is the view at the end. Full... More

This has been on my pilgrimage list for years, ever since studying architectural history many moons ago! I finally get to see Brunelleschi's great dome from the inside and some fabulous views from the outside. Wonderful, friendly guide and some extras thrown in. Highlight of my Florence trip!

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
