Having really enjoyed a food tour in another Italian city, my husband and I booked this one in the same hope that it would be a different way to see and get to know a city, and we weren't disappointed! Like so many places at the moment, Florence was much quieter than normal and we found ourselves on what was essentially a private tour - just the two of us with our guide Karin. However, it was never awkward or strange - Karin was really friendly and we found lots to talk about alongside the food. The tour lasts four hours - this sounds like a long time but it really did pass quickly. There's never too far to walk between stops so this gives you plenty of time to enjoy the tastings, to learn about the food and drink, as well as the city, the region, and the role of food in people's lives in Tuscany. It also gives you plenty of time to digest! You will have more than enough to eat so I'd strongly advise taking their advice on a light breakfast only! Over the course of the four hours, we stopped at a wide range of places, trying delicious pastries and coffee, fried bread, meats, cheeses, pasta, wines, olive oil and balsamic vinegars. Karin introduced everything, explaining the stories of the businesses we visited, the backgrounds/origins of the foods, and how they'd usually be eaten by a native Florentine/Tuscan. She more than happy to answer our questions and talk more about wider Italian food culture or how their culture compares to our own. By the time we finished our final stop - freshly made gelato - we were genuinely sad to leave. We'd had a wonderful time, tried some different versions of things we already knew, as well as somethings that were completely new to us. Karin also left us with a really helpful guide to good places to eat in the city (we opted for one of their recommendations the following evening and it didnt let us down!) A food tour is a great alternative to the traditional walking tour for seeing a city, getting more of a local's perspective. The tour by Taste Florence is definitely going to be hard to beat!…

We have very much enjoyed the food tour! We started with some excellent sweet pastries (as Italians do), then went on to more salty flavours (kinds of sandwiches), then went for a walk in the Mercanto Centrale and ate some more very good quality sandwiches with tender meat at Nerbone. Later, after a small wait, we had some ravioli. Later, we had wine (but juice for the kids) and tasted some really fantastic balsamic oil. Finally, we could ate as much gelato as we wanted... Alessandro was kind and it was good to see that things are coming back to normal in Firenze! As for suggestions: maybe a couple of more introductory remarks or generic description of Firenze would have been nice, but that's just a bonus, we enjoyed the tour this way as well.…

Book this half day tour for your first day in Florence for an incredible overview of the food, drinks and culture in the area. Toni is bilingual in English and Italian and she was an extremely knowledgeable guide to take us through Florence sampling local foods and drinks in many small business shops including a butcher shop, a bakery, a wine ship, gelato shop and visiting the local market.…

This was a great tour and we got to sample all kinds of local foods, as well as learn about them and the people who prepare them. Alessandro was a great guide and spoke English very well. My only regret was that we were not able to book this tour earlier in our visit, since we saw some things that we would definitely have revisited. I particularly liked that the tour focused on some family owned businesses with long histories in the city.…

First took this tour in 2015, and it was the first thing I recommended to my husband when I took him to Florence. It is a thorough introduction with a charming guide who loves her work! Delicious food at every stop; plenty of food history, locals to meet. And the fellow tourists are always nice, too!…
