- Kim AHouston, Texas4 contributionsIncredible Craftmanship in a Beautiful ShopWhat a privilege to have found this shop and this incredible craftsman on my recent trip to Cortona. In addition to unique beauty of each of the carefully crafted pieces in the shop, the pride of his craft was so delightfully apparent in my conversations with Giancarlo. The crafted silver that I bought there will be a favorite and wonderful memory of my time in Italy, and I hope to return to acquire more pieces from this amazing shop in the future.Visited September 2024Traveled soloWritten October 11, 2024

It was a joy to spend time in his small shop and talk with him about how he is carrying on the traditions of his father and grandfather in his work. His work is stunning and has to be seen.Visited October 2024Traveled with friendsWritten October 11, 2024

- Elizabeth M1 contributionThe perfect spot to find a unique gift of hand-crafted wood in Cortona.Giancarlo designs beautiful and unique items of wood. I would highly recommend visiting his shop when you are in Cortona to find the perfect gift. His vision reflects his history (as a third generation woodworker) while incorporating fresh and innovative ideas into his work. He uses both native Italian and rare wood from around the world and each piece is one-of-a-kind. He is a joy to speak with and you will walk away from his shop with both knowledge and a work of art. You will not be disappointed!Visited October 2024Traveled soloWritten October 28, 2024

Beautiful, unique pieces and a friendly and open hearted talented artist who loves his work. I bought a special piece made of rosewood, a tree which can no longer ne used for commercial purposes. Giancarlo priced it at 10 times his other creations but the beauty was worth it.
Besides a gifted artist, Giancarlo is warm and very easy to talk ti. He knows his art and as an eloquent artist, can and will sell to you what you most desire.

Strolling through the town we saw his shop on the way up the hill. Looked closed but we peered in the window and thought wow. On the way back out of town the door was open so we went in. So glad we did. Giancarlo is a character as we spent almost an hour getting to know him and his work. We ended up walking out with 4 beautiful pieces of his craftsmanship that are now on display in our home. Spend the time to hear him and his story, well worth it.

Giancarlo is a talented artisan. My children and I stopped in to his shop on the way to a music performance, and the woodwork is breath taking. The shop was full of many items I would love to display at my home, and my children also picked out their favorites. Giancarlo was welcoming and engaging and took time to detail the process by which he works and answer our questions. I have one of his apples on display in my house now, and it brings me right back to Cortona and the creativity we all have within us if we chose to take the time to see it. Thank you, Giancarlo.

We visited Cortona on several occasions around 15years ago and bought a number of wonderful pieces from Umberto. What a surprise when Giancarlo remembered me by name, (yes and including my surname!!) and my son after 15 years. Giancarlo work is exceptional, as I would have expected. I added a beautiful candlestick to my collection and my son has also started a collection. Umberto and Giancarlo are wonderful people - so hospitable. If you visit Cortona, please seek out Giancarlo's unique gallery - a wonderful experience.

Giancarlo Rossi is an exceptional wood carver. We bought 2 extraordinary pieces from him while we were visiting Cortona, Italy. His talent is unmatched and he learned from his father who learned from his father. Incredible talent in this family. Cortona is a magical town and you must visit his shop while you are there!

It’s rare to find such a multi faceted artisan. His wood turning skills are evident in the pieces on display, but make sure to look at the walls, the paintings are amazing! Look forward to next time

A very talented and pleasant artist. His small studio was a real joy to visit and experience. He shared his family history of working as wood carvers and artist. I bought a wooden apple carving which is so unique. The wood grain design is spectacular. Please stop in and visit with him and see his work. He speaks fluent English so you will learn a lot.
