Il Frantoio Riding Center offers amazing hacking through the hills of Tuscany. Mario was easy to work with over email prior to the trip, answering all of our questions. The ride has stunning views through olive and grape fields. Mario was a great guide!! It's clear that the horses were healthy and well treated. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves horses and beautiful scenery. Well worth it!

My wife, daughter and I had an awesome 2 hour ride through the hills of Tuscany including the vineyards and olive orchards of the most picturesque countryside I have seen anywhere. Mario led us down the dirt roads and winding paths, each corner revealing the varying charms of the region, and each more beautiful than the next.
The horses he provided were full of energy and Mario gauged the ride to match our riding skills by first spending a little time with us inside the large sand riding ring. This experience was the highlight of our trip and we can not wait to come back and discover more of the magical countryside and friendliness of the people. Back at the ranch, Paolo and his family gave us home-made gelato before our ride and an awesome local wine afterwards. They could not have been more welcoming and enjoyable to talk with. The overall experience was fantastic and we look forward to doing it all again on our next visit to Italy.

We visit this area every year and one of the highlights of our stay is riding at these stables. The man who takes us out is called Mario, a fluent English/French/Italian speaker and a very interesting and erudite man. If you have a bit of time I suggest asking to visit the monastry at the top of the hill, it's beautiful. Alternatively if cantering through the Tuscan vineyards is more your thing he can also arrange that. Horses are well cared for but only a couple are suitable for beginners so that could be an issue if there are several of you. In the height of summer it's better to ride early in the morning or in the evening when the heat is less intense.

Mario took my wife and two teenagers (14 and 17) and I on a two hour ride up in the hills at 8am today. It was spectacular. The best horses we have ridden - everybody had a blast. Thru grape and olive vineyards, along streams with spectacular views. The horses are beautiful, well cared for and well trained. This is a must during your stay in the Cortona area.

Hi there, your website is not working -do you have an email or some other way to contact you- I would like to book a ride for two people on September 10th. I would call but its long distances from the US and was trying to avoid that.

Hi I will be in Cortona from July 28th to August 8th. I am a very experienced rider and have two horses of my own and train. Is there riding available with your center to experience the trails for a day trip. I will probably be bringing two other people who ride as well.

Hello VFontana1! We'd be happy to have you visit us for a ride out in the hills above Cortona. To answer your question, we organize 1 - 3 hour riding excursions for small groups of max 4 riders (with experience). Our trips go through vineyards and up into the hills above Cortona to the fire line that divides the olive orchards from the forests. A nice 2 hour ride is to LE CELLE monastery. My name is Oonagh and my colleague who makes all the arrangements and does the accompaniment is Mario. I believe our email address is listed on our page.
