The area
Neighborhood: Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.

Love this Cooking Class
May 2018 • Friends
I took a class here a number of years ago and when planning a trip to Florence for 12 of us, this was a must-do item on our itinerary. We took the 5-hour class and it was outstanding - so much fun, very interactive and the food was great. Chef Maurizio was great - good teaching technique with lots of tips and explanations, and very engaging, quickly learning all of our names and inviting us to participate. Villa Pandolfini is a great place to hold this class - the herb garden is wonderful and the kitchen set up quite good for a group this size. Our group was 6 adults and 6 grown children (in their 20's) and we had a wonderful experience.

Mother and Daughter Bonding Time
Jul 2017 • Family
What a wonderful time for my daughter and I? Brigitte, my beautiful daughter and I shared 3dreamy days, out-of-this-world experience participating in cooking classes. Meaghan and Massimo and her staff were amazing, not to mention the chefs and all the participants cooking with us on July 4,5 and 6th July 2017. What a memorable time we had. Meaghan was a tremendous host looking after us from arrival and until we left. The Villa PANDOLFINI 1. although, slightly outdated in places, was just a remarkable and comfortable place to stay-we had this all to ourselves! The terrazzo was just beautiful and we made many friends on the estate. Highly recommend this Villa. Wi-Fi was the only issue but when you consider the location and the scenery, drawing, reading, swimming and listening to music, was the order of the day. It was a wonderful time and very sad to leave. We were looked after like we were part of the family and it was lovely meeting all the family members. Cannot recommend this course highly. The Villa was like a dream and easy to get to and lots to do.
Nothing more to say GREAT TIME, SADLY ..................it came to an end!!
Thank you everyone, Anne and Brigitte

Not a "Celiac Cooking Class"
May 2016 • Family
My 19 year old daughter and I did the one day(supposedly celiac) class at Lastra a Signa. The van picking us up was extememly late, pushing back the ending time and the rest of our day. The delay was explained and it seemed to be somewhat unavoidable so nobody's fault. There 7 of us in this class and I think any more would have been too much. This number gave us all the opportunity to do everything. This was a really fun day and I learned a lot. Also, each chef has their own way of preparing so the recipe book isn't really spot on since they add and subtract at will. Take notes if you'd like to keep the recipe straight. The main disappointment here was that I specifically signed up for the celiac course hoping to learn how to make gluten free pasta. Although, 2 of the dishes were gluten free the rest of the menu had gluten. I was told before hand that the class cannot guarantee completely gluten free because of contamination and I understood and agreed to this. My daughter and I still had a great time but don't sign up for the celiac version.

I traveled from the US for this amazing experience. Highly recommend their classes. The staff is delightful, the additional tours, including the hot air balloon were amazing. The food was OUT OF THIS WORLD! I will be back

Great Experience
Aug 2015 • Family
Just returned from our trip to Italy and this class was definately a highlight. Evi was our guide for the beginning part as they split our group into two at our meeting place. We walked to the Florence market, which is an experience in itself. We had already been there, but we learned a lot from our visit here as our guide pointed out Florence specific foods. We also stopped at a local church in which the ancient market existed and learned a little history (how can you not...you're in Florence!) The coffee break was nice for those people that need a short break from walking. But our cooking experience was just lovely...very hands on if that is what you want (also ok if you don't want too much hands on), with good guidance and nice pace. The wine is opened to go with your bruschetta and as some fellow Australians discovered prior, this tour does not limit your wine consumption. Actually, everything about this class felt so generous and thoughtful, from the explanation about pizza dough to the family style dining. If you like to eat, drink wine or beer, enjoy the company of others, want to learn some basics, and come away with great memories, this tour is all you would want. And the setting up on the hill with gardens surrounding just added to whole experience. I would highly recommend Taste of Tuscany!

Taste of Tuscany cooking class

This was the absolute highlight of our holiday and easily exceeded my expectations. Our hosts Elisa, Alana and Carmella were just gorgeous and made the day very special. The tour thru Florence in the morning was informative and fun and then heading up to the Tuscan hillside was magical. I can't recommend this day highly enough. Wonderful food, wine, magical setting, 10 out of 10. Thanks so much for fantastic memories.

Taste of Tuscany Cooking Class
Jul 2014 • Friends
We visited Tuscany in early July and wanted to try out some local traditional cooking and the taste of tuscany cooking class was tremendously enjoyable. Lesley was extremely friendly and helpful and nonna though she did not speak any english, was a joy to communicate with as well.

The food we prepared was excellent and the duration of the class was perfect as well.

Many thanks for the lovely experience, Lesley. I would recommend this class for anyone who wants a local authentic experience.

Great Cooking Experience
Jul 2014 • Couples
My wife and I have taken cooking classes in 8 differnt regions of Italy and each is quite unique. In reading the two bad reviews of this class beloiw, I must say that folks need to know this is a fairly typical, and well run, Italian "in home" cooking class. It is certainly not for the culinary expert, but is instead for the type of person who cooks as a hobby and wants to learn something new about Italian cooking they did not know before. That is how I felt after attending this class. Lesley was an excellent host. She arrived at our Montalcino B&B and took us to her home, She was aided by her Italian friend, and I was very happy Lesley spoke English becuase her friend did not (but was a very fine cook and teacher of cooking as well). Each of the four items we cooked were new recipes for me, and Lesley was very nice to provide us a very well written and easy to use recipe book of the several menu items we made (instead of just referrring us to a web site as some classes do). I have since prepared some of them at home with success.

The wines were certainly not the very best that the region had to offer, but they were a great respresentation, and very tasty with the food we prepared.

Notwithstanding what others say, the price for this class was in teh same range as other classes we have taken, and actually less than a few of them.

There is no doubt in my mind that this was a highlight of our visit to Montalcino, and I therefore recommend it highly

Great experience!
Sep 2013 • Couples
My husband and I recently took a cooking class with Lesley while we were staying in Montalcino on our honeymoon. It is a tad expensive, but I think it's worth the cost. There are a lot of ingredients purchased for each course and we opted for the wine pairing with each course. All of the completed dishes and wines were excellent. It was a very fun day and easy to do, because Lesley picked us up where we were staying. The dishes are fairly easy to prepare and we got a binder with the recipes, so we are looking forward to making them at home. As an aside, the negative comment below doesn't appear to have any relation to the Taste of Tuscany with Lesley, so I wouldn't let that deter you if you are in the Montalcino area.
