Smack bang in the middle of Taormina’s main thoroughfare is Re di Bastoni. A fantastic, historic little place and a local gem. Owned by Tano, he and his family attend to guests with genuine Sicilian warmth and enthusiasm. The service is friendly and efficient and the whole team have a genuine interest in wine, especially the local produce. Tano’s son Micky was utterly superb and introduced us to some amazing wines we may never have discovered. Wonderful. The small menu is also perfect with delicious, flavourful bruschetta. Perfect to soak up the wine. To add to the joy of this place Tano is a jazz enthusiast and the music is a sublime backdrop to the experience. Get there on the right night and you will even hear Tano tinkling the ivories with some of his favourite jazz numbers. This is a great place. Highly recommended.

We have been three times to Taormina and we come here every time, almost every night for Aperitif before dinner. This place has amazing Bruschetta!!! Some of the best I’ve ever tasted. Such friendly staff, fantastic service. The owner plays piano for you and and this time he even gave us free figs to nibble on. Perfecto!!

We love Sicily and Taormina.. This year we have decided to spend my husband birthday there. We had such lovely night, there in Taormina until we have met The Owner..... We went for a drink latet hat night. So when we went there we were in a good mood after 2 drinks and a meal. As it was my husband birthday, we wanted to enjoy an evening wiith one more drink. And as it was already late we wanted to take a bottle of wine to the room and have a glass on our balcony. We have treated his staff, offered a drinks ordered one drink each and I had a shot- . At the end we have ordered a bottle of wine to take away. We both were tteated terribly wrong as I have asked The Boss for different type of wine and prices per bottle His temper came out just after I've questioned the bottle of wine for £20 to take away. I simply like to know what I am buying. Plus this behaviour was unacteptable. We at the end got our bottle elsewhere. Get to our roomand cin cined with one mor gkass. I We won't recommend or come back. But we wil pass the message further

You offended us all trying to offer miserable 10 € For a bottle of excellent and well refrigerated white wine ,And also sarcastically saying we were selling cheap wine bought in supermarket. So you deserve to be treated as you were !! Insulting us by treating us as low class robbers We are doing our job impeccably offering our customers the best Sicilian wines of the best wine producers of the island!!!! So tell all the truth !!!! We were preparing the bottle for you to take away with two new complimentary wine glasses When you said what you said!!!!! You. behaved badly offending us all!! You where served with the best care, after 02 o clock in the night when we were ready to close !!! Even your husband was shamed!! Do what you did anywhere else but not...... in Taormina !!!!!!!!!!!!!

This pub is such a great spot. I holidayed in Taormina in September with my wife and we were over the moon to find this little pub. It is exactly what it states: a pub. Not a restaurant where you can sit and have drinks, but a beautiful little pub with friendly, happy staff. We loved it. It was great to be able to sit and watch the world go by. The decor is tasteful, the atmosphere relaxing and it serves several local craft beers as well as the usual beers.
