You gotta go here if in Taormina must see a show. Saw Romeo and Juliet preformed here in ballet style in a fantastic Colluseum setting. Beautifully performed show that would take your breath away.

Starting at 21:15 hrs you have time for an evening meal before watching this excellent sample of the famaous and favourite pieces from Italian operas. During the interval you have a glass of bubbly and a walk out onto the roof terrace over looking the Piazza IX Aprile. A really good event with high quality pianist and singers, highly recommended.

So glad we went to the opera Monday evening in Taormina. They sang beautiful duets and solos and the pianist accompanying them was top notch. Very pleasant evening, fun selections, young , expressive artists. €20 Euros for about 1 1/2 hours in a quaint old theater, with comfy seats! Small glass of Prosecco included. Our Hotel reserved seats for us, then we paid when we arrived. Open seating. We got there at 8:45 for the 9:15 show, and were able to sit third row center. People were dressed casually, but I did not see jeans. Well worth the trip.

Lovely little theatre in a church, very accessible programme. Short interval where you are given a glass of spumante on the terrace with a sensational view over the town and see. Thought the 2 singers and pianist were fabulous. I like music but am not a great opera fan, and still very much enjoyed it.

Great night out, small 300 seat theatre. If you are a opera lover you might not think it is that great but if you want to have a fun time you will love it. Stay until the end as they do a little improv skit. At intermission they open side curtains to reveal a beautiful balcony with city lights and provide Prosecco to the guests.

the evening was pleasant and we enjoyed it, we wish they had chosen different operas and the whole thing was rushed, but for 22 euros, it was worth it

If you are actual opera buff please give this a wide berth. It was two of the longest hours of my life and I really regret not leaving at intermission like many others did. For the most part it was not even opera but some sort of Bulgarian festival music performance by a solo flute. This is really a total tourist trap and the cheap Prosecco in plastic cup at intermission was not sufficient to rate this any higher. Score would have been lower but for the relatively capable baritone singer who at least tried to inject some energy into the soulless venue. I booked this partly based on the strong tripadvisor reviews - frankly I am now shocked that I was experiencing the same amateurish event that others have described in glowing terms.

Dear Customer.
we are sorry that you were not able to grasp the artistic level of the evening. The show he attended was a Special Event where, within the show Italian Opera Taormina, two internationally renowned artists from Poland were hosted who delighted the public with famous classic songs. I also wanted to point out that during the break only 5 people left because one of them was sick.

I was positively surprised by this experience - I was initially quite sceptical (possibly used to overpriced overbooked and overall underwhelming evening evens on holiday) but super reasonably priced at €20 per ticket I found the performance one of the highlights of our week in Taormina! It was fresh, energetic and passionate - and the spontaneity of the encores quit refreshing. All 3 artists were brilliant but the star was the soprano, Carmen Salamone.

First family experience of opera and thoroughly recommended. Really well done with bite sized snippets of classics that everyone will know bits of (from film and tv adverts!). Very strong performances that were very moving. Good encores and fun throughout but not in a cheesy way. Great way to embrace the culture. Free prosecco at interval. Air con but it was still quite warm. Those in the know took fans with them.

Going to Taormina at the end of September and would love to attend any musical event prefferably under an open sky.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The show we saw was excellent but under cover although we did have a complementary prosecco on the terrace overlooking the square and the harbour. If you want open air try the website for the Greek theatre, they have shows, Sting is playing there soon (not a fan of his though!) but will I’m sure have some opera or classical performances. Have a great time.

It is possible to access with a wheelchair arriving from via Don Bosco and not from the square below, there is a disabled bathroom on the same floor as the concert hall.
