This small baroque church, dedicated to Saint Joseph, was built in the XVII. century. It overlooks the central square of Taormina. A flight of stairs leads to the entrance and since it's elevated, the view is even more spectacular from there.
For us, the most prominent feature of the interior is the elaborate stucco decoration on the walls.

St. Joseph Church was built in 17th century. It’s located in the Piazza IX Aprile, near the simple Chiesa di Sant’Agostino (15th century), which is now a library. We took some photos outside with a fantastic, hilly background and climbed up the stairs to the church. It has an ornate rococo style interior, it’s worth a visit.

Lovely, medieval Roman Catholic church. It has a baroque façade and is located in the touristy Old Town section, on Corso Umberto . . . the sightseer’s shopping pedestrian street. The nice square in front of the church enhances its beauty. The exterior is relatively plain, but very beautiful. The interior is very different. It is extremely ornate, nice statueslarge paintings hung on the side walls, nice artwork in the major dome and beautiful altar area.

This is a beautiful building, well worth a visit. It is surrounded by beautiful trees, Corso Umberto and artists doing portraits nightly not to mention the Piazza April for views of Mt Etna. Spectacular place.

The old city is one main road with many narrow streets and alleys going off to either side. As you walk there are many sites to see and explore like this one.

There are many churches we visited in Taormina and this one is one of the best. In the main square it is the perfect setting for this church. The piazza is full of typical shops and restaurants with great food. Looking up to Mt Etna completes this cozy feeling of the town.

You must get to some place that offers Pistachio canolis. They are like heaven in Sicily.
We also found a candy shop that had the best chocolate covered orange peels I ever had.

This undoubtedly among all the churches in Taormina is my favorite, located in the main square in the middle of Corso Umberto, around here is the focal point of the town where the days are witnessing the panoramic landscape and in the evening the atmosphere is idyllic. Its beautiful white facade with the street lights make everything more romantic. Judging from the outside it may look great but on this tiny lovely church in fact going up the few steps you are in front of the entrance, a short nave flanked by wooden benches where the faithful sit down to pray. In my opinion, the interior is very nice, decorated in a delicious way with statues and works of art, I noticed that was truly remarkable. Worth going and get inside just for a peek.

An incredibly impressive staircase leads up to a classically Italianate interior which to some will be over decorated. Inside and out is very photogenic and the balcony overlooks the square. A must see if you are travelling through the square.

This is the large Baroque Church that sits on Piazza IX Aprile. It is a very busy wedding location on the weekends.

Beautiful paintings and frescos. The detail in the stucco walls is exceptional.

Located in a beautiful square, the church has a very rich interior. It is worth having a peak inside the old church.
