We were delighted to be able to go inside this church as it was closed for renovation on our previous visit. The church looks out onto Piazza IX Aprile and the main portal is reached via a double staircase. Built in the late C17th, the facade is in a gabled Baroque style and to the side is a bell tower with the lower part built in Taormina stone. the inside is lovely with stucco and a fresco in the dome. the altar is built from Taormina marble. Not huge but definitely worth a look round.

Lovely, medieval Roman Catholic church. It has a baroque façade and is located in the touristy Old Town section, on Corso Umberto . . . the sightseer’s shopping pedestrian street. The nice square in front of the church enhances its beauty. The exterior is relatively plain, but very beautiful. The interior is very different. It is extremely ornate, nice statueslarge paintings hung on the side walls, nice artwork in the major dome and beautiful altar area.

This is a beautiful building, well worth a visit. It is surrounded by beautiful trees, Corso Umberto and artists doing portraits nightly not to mention the Piazza April for views of Mt Etna. Spectacular place.

The old city is one main road with many narrow streets and alleys going off to either side. As you walk there are many sites to see and explore like this one.

There are many churches we visited in Taormina and this one is one of the best. In the main square it is the perfect setting for this church. The piazza is full of typical shops and restaurants with great food. Looking up to Mt Etna completes this cozy feeling of the town.

You must get to some place that offers Pistachio canolis. They are like heaven in Sicily.
We also found a candy shop that had the best chocolate covered orange peels I ever had.

This undoubtedly among all the churches in Taormina is my favorite, located in the main square in the middle of Corso Umberto, around here is the focal point of the town where the days are witnessing the panoramic landscape and in the evening the atmosphere is idyllic. Its beautiful white facade with the street lights make everything more romantic. Judging from the outside it may look great but on this tiny lovely church in fact going up the few steps you are in front of the entrance, a short nave flanked by wooden benches where the faithful sit down to pray. In my opinion, the interior is very nice, decorated in a delicious way with statues and works of art, I noticed that was truly remarkable. Worth going and get inside just for a peek.

Church sadly not easily accessible for disabled but lovely square and fabulous views. Well worth the walk from Cathedral. Even photographed gold finches in trees adjacent to church !!

One of the main buildings on the Piazza IX Aprile. Very lovely church which blends in great with surrounding.

Spent a good few hours here there are some great little bars around the square (Not quite sure why its called a square as its more rectangular shape) Anyway I digress we absolutely canned the local red wine which was not cheap but very strong. After two bottles each we had had enough. Its a great place to people watch. The kids had had a great time playing balancing game on the wall overlooking the sea and generally running round as there is a lot of space. We had to bribe them with a few ice creams to leave us n peace which was a shame because the ice cream was not cheap.

All in all a good couple of hours (and a good hangover)

The church itself is nothing special, however the square with it's cafes and bars is a great place to stop, unwind, take a the sun and refreshment for a couple of hours.
