Erroneamente viene riportato come Duomo di Taormina la chiesa di S. Caterina, mentre la vera Cattedrale, intitolata a S. Nicolò di Bari, non è nemmeno recensita.

We stopped off here - park in the first lower car park and catch the free bus to the village rather than try and drive into the village - on the way to Ikea in Catania. It's beautiful, busy but was very hot in very...More

It looks like a church more than a cathedral. Built in 1400AD, it looks like a fortress. The interior is rather simple in style. However, the cathedral square is nice and provides a stunning view over the coast and the Etna.

A lovely church in a beautiful square. Free admission and really it only takes a few minutes to visit it.

The inside is Gothic, but the wonderful old facade shows how old the building really is. The main doorway with its broken pediment sits well within the plain front, and the renaissance doorway at the side is particularly beautiful. Inside is the wonderful Byzantine Madonna...More

This cathedral is not as outstanding as others in Sicily are. When we visited, there was religious service time.

Lovely Duomo always busy and was lucky enough to see a wedding . Very old and worth a look inside but remember to take something to cover your shoulders

I preferred some of the smaller churches in the town to the cathedral. I was rather disappointed frankly, albeit there had been a couple of weddings so the flowers were still in full show but I didnt feel like I usually do in cathedrals. Having...More

You can’t help but look into this Cathedral on your way up the Main Street. Very quaint and if a service on at the same time even better.

Not a great masterpiece but some lovely carvings and paintings. A silver and jewelled piece dedicated to the Madonna is awesome.

Spent quite a while looking at a very impressive silver 'repousse' of the Madonna and her child, on the right hand side of the Duomo. Worthwhile going into the Duomo to look at it.

Don't expect anything like the same grandness as the cathedrals of Monreale or Cefelu. This cathedral is tiny by comparison, and relatively plain. You'd need to be a particular fan of churches to appreciate it.
