- Claudia PToronto, Canada66 contributionsPeaceful and BeautifulThis was a very pretty park where you could spend a couple of hours walking around while getting away from the crowds. There is some history, nice gardens and stunning views of the Ionian Sea. I would highly recommend a visit. Take your time, enjoy the peacefulness and snap some beautiful photos.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten April 2, 2024
- Ana VEugene, Oregon652 contributionsBeautiful Park - City and people are lucky to have this! This is an incredibly beautiful park that was donated by Florence Trevelyan to the city. The pathways, plants, trees and views are stunning. You will even find wonderful playground equipment, exercise equipment, and gazebos. It is like a fairy tale place! It is all beautifully cared for by the city. It is definitely worth a visit and a wonderful place to relax.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 15, 2024
- Seeking True QualityEurope4,938 contributionsBeautiful, quiet and relaxingAs it is off the beaten tourist track, we were almost alone among the lush vegetation in this lovely public garden. Originally named Hallington Siculo, it was created by Florence Trevelyan, an English gardener who fell in love with Taormina. In 1890, she moved there, purchased the lovely Isola Bella, married Professor Salvatore Cacciola and died there in 1907. She imported a lot of non-native plants to this garden and erected some buildings for decoration (so-called follies) from which birds could be watched.Visited May 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten April 27, 2024
- Gabi T10 contributionsTaormina cutest impossible!!!I was in Taormina in May, the weather is ideal, 25, 26 degrees. The village is beautiful, to walk and enjoy the panoramic views from the main square (if it is clear you see the Volcano Etna !!!) and from the old theater (admission to the theater costs 12 euros, a little expensive in my opinion). Important fact, in the square 9 de Abril there is a public bathroom. One euro was paid, super clean and comfortable. And I recommend getting off in the cable car (or funicular) to the beach. To the right is Mazzaro beach and to the left isola Bella beach, in May there are few people, it is public and the water is crystal clear, beautiful everything!! The cable car costs 10 Euros round trip. Beautiful experience. I went from Catania by bus, round trip, with Interbus, 9 euros total. You can buy the ticket the same day in Via D'Amico 187 and a few meters away is the terminal, several buses depart during the day, and it takes about 1 hour and 45 min, and reaches the end of Taormina, from there walk you get everywhere. I loved Taormina!!!Visited May 2024Traveled soloWritten June 25, 2024
- Sally62Northampton, United Kingdom6,083 contributionsBeautiful gardens with great viewsBeautiful gardens on the cliff edge that were created by an Englishwoman, Florence Trevelyan. Lovely views across the bay to Etna. Lots of sheltered walkways and benches if you want to sit in the shade for a while. Planted borders, unusual follies, statues and a children's play area. A delightful place to spend a bit of time away from the crowds.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten June 27, 2024
- Anthony T1 contributionWorth a visit but get there early. The veiws from the top are amazing looking towards Isola Bella and to the South. The narrow streets and shops are really worth a visit as is the Theatre. However it gets very busy and then not so nice, we went to the theatre for 9, parking was ok and almost had it to ourselves. Leaving at 11, all the visitor groups had arrived and very busy.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 7, 2024
- 301lisa33Coventry, United Kingdom2,007 contributionsPleasant spaceThis is a pleasant space offering lots of shade. There are many areas to explore. (Some parts were not available.) Nice place for a wander or a rest. There is a bougainvillea hedge which looked lovely when we visited. Fabulous vies of Etna. The park has a bar and toilet facilities. There is a small display of some war memorabilia. Some areas, especially some of the buildings, are in need of maintenanceVisited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 25, 2024

It is a beautiful garden with incredible views, statuary, birds singing and not crowded at all. Highly recommend for a relaxing afternoon stroll. It is also close to other attractions.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 1, 2025

Loved the huge variety of shops from handmade shoes to jewellery, and gelato. The amphitheater is incredible and we even enjoyed lunch at the Cafe on site overlooking the sea. We caught the train from Messina which goes every 30 min approx and then a 20 euro taxi to the town which is high up. it only takes 20 min to walk back down. Easy walking through and round the town. You can also take the gondol down to the beach if you don't want to walk.

A beautiful garden which was built by an Englishwoman with a great mix of facilities.
It has some lovely terraces with lovely views over the sea and Taormina together with Mount Etna in the distance.
It also has a series of follies, some aviaries (2 parrots was all we spotted la children's playground and some outdoor exercise areas. There are plenty of benches and at the far end some stones that look good for a picnic. Some of the buildings were fenced off and there are no toilets within the park.
We went in late May about 11.00 and it was quite quiet.

Excellent gardens, in the shade which was welcome on such a hot day. They are well designed and interesting with historical information boards. I would recommend these gardens to anyone looking for some
Peace and quiet away from the bustle of the Main Street or the heat of the beach. Lovely

Beautiful garden that was created by the English aristocrat Florence Trevelyan - there is a bust to her in the garden and she bequeathed the garden to the town on her death. It is a lovely place to wander around and to take a break from the heat of the day and there are plenty of benches where you could sit and relax or read if you wanted to. Lots of Mediterranean and tropical planting and amazing views over the bay and toward Etna - it is very well kept. Also some interesting Victorian follies. Definitely somewhere you should visit on your stay and highly recommend Rosmarino restaurant which is just opposite the entrance gates on Via Bagnoli Croci.

This communal garden is tucked away in Taormina but nonetheless well worth visiting. There is no admission charge as the creator wanted to share this place with everybody. The creator was Lady Florence Trevelyan a Scottish noblewoman, a keen gardener who had an affair with the heir to the throne Edward VII. She then moved to Taormina and married the local Mayor and created this beautiful garden. It has some lovely plants and feels quite British. The views are very pretty and you can even see Mt Etna

This location was very pleasant. Plenty of shade provided a nice break from the intense sunshine and heat of mid-day in July. VIews of the beaches, sea, and buildings below were stupendous. The Asian buildings, statues, and plant variety in the were interesting to see. I thoroughly enjoyed strolling along the pathways here.

The Villa Comunale is a lovely little park nicely situated in Taormina. The views from the park are absolutely beautiful and you could easily spend time leisurely eating a gelato soaking up the views.
The park itself is lovely and peaceful, and a welcome break from the crows of Taormina.
A beautiful setting for our engagement and its now holds wonderful memories for us.

This is the place to visit if you are hot and tired. The gardens are subtropical and free to entry with plenty of shade and benches. The foliage is unusual and well tended with large trees and bushes. You can amble around on paved paths with views of the extensive coastline. Supposedly you can enter from a track near the ancient theatre but we found it was padlocked. The gardens are also a short walk from the main shopping street.

We did this after the Greek theatre as they are not far apart and this is completely free. Wonderful planting, follies and stunning views. Plenty of seats if you want to take a picnic. Quite a few steps down to it initially but such a lovely experience. You can normally walk down from the theatre but the path was closed. Really worth a visit

This is a great way to spend 45 minutes to an hour. Beautiful flowers, sculptures, fountains, and buildings. Many of the buildings have an Asian look/feel.
There is one section that is a memorial to the victims of war.
Find a quite bench and enjoy the shade on a hot day.

Hi, how do I find these gardens? I can’t find any info anywhere. Is it within the ampitheatre? Any advice appreciated on how to find it as just one more day left in Taormina thanks

From the Corso Umberto take the alley going downhill to the Naumarche. Follow this street downhill (Via Fratelli Bandiera) this turns into via Bagnoli Croci. Continue downhill and it is on your right. There is an entrance at the lookout on Via Roma.
Alternatively look it up on google maps.
Enjoy.
