The view of Mount Etna and the sea beyond is absolutely superb at Taormina's 10,000-seat ancient Greek amphitheater, which was erected in the third century BC and expanded by the Romans.

€10 is pretty expensive in comparison with much better preserved & presented amphitheatre, however it was worth it for the views of both coasts, Etna & the mainland.

We visited Taormina late April and found this Theatre to be very good. Its mostly ruins however the location, the set-up and views are very good from here. They do live opera and other performances here as well. If you get a chance then buy the tickets for such shows. Although ruins - the main structure is well maintained and... More

Quite a climb up but worth it. Not the best theatre but the best theatre with a view! Lovely to look the other way over to the Italian mainland.

Situated at the very top of a hill this antique theatre has a fabulous view of the Etna as well as the coastline. Absolutely worth visiting although the entry is 10 Euros per person.

The views from her with Mount Etna in the background is just amazing. I would recommend visiting just before lunch time as you miss the tours in the morning. Dress with sensible shoes as there are... This is the main attraction of the town for me. You can see how important this place must have been. Great overlooking views of the surrounding area. A must

I visited last year and thought it was worth the 10 euros admission. However went back with a friend this year only to find most areas cordoned off. Due to renovation and g7. Would have expected a reduced admission cost.
