The view of Mount Etna and the sea beyond is absolutely superb at Taormina's 10,000-seat ancient Greek amphitheater, which was erected in the third century BC and expanded by the Romans.

Take your time as you stroll through this relic of history. Every sight line in this theater is amazing...the structure, the sea, the mountains...and to think of the millions of people over the centuries that have enjoyed the very same views from the very same vantage points. We spent over two hours walking the grounds and enjoyed every step. If... More

This is a well preserved theatre which is easy to view. On top of that, there is a beautiful view of the ocean. Additionally, it is in the city of Taormina which is very quaint and worth seeing too.

Don't be put off by the hike uphill or the admission fee. This is an outstanding antiquity site, one of the largest ancient amphitheaters, with incredible views of the sea and mountains.

The Greek Theatre is a well preserved theatre that is located a short walk from the Main street in Taormina. The theatre is well preserved and has excellent views of Mt Etna and the Sea. You can roam around the main level or take the stairs up to one of the upper sections. I took the stairs to the top... More

A beautiful historical spot after a leisurely stroll through lovely Taormina. Gorgeous views of the sea and surrounding area from the theater. A nice stop.

We returned to the theater after a 20 year hiatus and still had the impression we had before: time had stopped. A spectacular view of the sea and of Mt. Etna, spewing vapor, accompanied us as we were climbing the steps of the amphitheater to reach the higher rows, once occupied by Greek and Roman spectators. The stage below with... More

The Greek theatre is lovely and well worth a visit. It hosts opera in the evenings and has beautiful views. The predominant view is of the coastline looking up over the 'smoking' apex of Mount Edna. The large columned arches are magnificent.

It's a walk up, but well worth the climb for the best views. Beautiful old ruins built by the Greeks.

It's pretty hard to get excited about another amphitheater of "old rocks" - except to marvel at the amazing work it was to have assembled them WITHOUT the equipment we so take for granted today! But far more important is the beauty of the surroundings and this old mess of rocks so many years later! Certainly makes one feel small!

This is a very interesting place to visit. Take some water, as can be very hot in the sun. It's worth a visit for the views alone, stunning!!! It's not nessasary to go with a tour, it's nice to walk about at your own pace.
