We came specifically to track the path of my uncle killed leading the assault on a Sferro battlefield. Although not in his specific area Roberto helped to make our arrangements to visit the area and gave us a great tour of the landing areas around Syracuse.

Myself and a dozen colleagues of mine were recently delayed in returning from a business trip in Sicily. Not wanting to miss an opportunity to explore the island (and being a military history buff), I reached out to Roberto concerning a day tour of the Operation Husky sites. He quickly responded to my email with all the relevant details and options. The tour itself was extremely good. Roberto was very knowledgeable about all of the sites that we visited. Best of all, his personal connection to the war allowed him to talk about so much more than what you can read in the history books. To top it off: we also learned a great deal about Sicily in general, as told by a local. I would highly recommend Roberto and Impavidus for anyone interested in exploring Sicily. I've done numerous other battlefield tours including Normandy and Huertgen Forest. Impavidus was right up there with the best of them.

My wife and I visited Siricusa Sicily last week and through TripAdvisor I found this WW2 tour offered by Impavidus.it and operated by its owner, Roberto Piccione. We asked for a day tour and he customized the experience for us per our request to see Montgomery and Patton's landing beaches, and the history of these engagements both before, during and after. This somewhat forgotten operation, Operation Husky was brought back to life by Roberto. He uses period photography then and now and had an answer to all our questions with great depth. He also has a superb private collection of artifacts. I also endorse his beautiful and comfortable Bed & Breakfast where my wife and I stayed, in the heart of Ortigio, run be him and his lovely wife Steffi. A friendly and engaging Italian couple. Thanks Roberto and Steffi. You made our 4 day visit to your country a wonderful experience.

Roberto was dream tour guide. First, he tracked down an outstanding driver, Mico, for our full day tour. They picked us up at our hotel right on time and we headed first to Piazza Armerina. What an amazing experience seeing the 40+ intact Roman mosaics dating back to the 3rd and 4th centuries AD. Roberto was extremely knowledgeable and did a great job getting us in position to see everything and to get photos. Then, we headed to Marianopoli, the birth town of my grandmother. Arriving there, Roberto, spoke with some locals about sites to see and mentioned my family name. Turns out, they know the family! Word went out about the Americans in town visiting the ancestral home. People started coming to the square and we ended up being adopted by all of them! They bought us wine and treats and coffee! They kissed us on both cheeks and spoke to Roberto, who translated everything. It was like a movie scene! What an incredible day. On our way back to Siracusa, our driver called the restaurant where we had a dinner reservation to ask them to move our time a bit later since our excitement in Marianopoli had delayed our return. Voila! We had an amazing tour and still made it for an amazing dinner! We can’t thank Roberto and Mico enough - they gave us a dream tour that we will remember forever.
