Great experience for family

We really liked the documentary (it may be difficult to understand at times for children that dont speak English) and the virtual reality walk. I think the children (aged 8 and 11) understand the history and the lives of people then much better now, as they "saw" it and "experienced" it. Also, very friendly staff, very Covid19 cautious and safe.

Lame video

The person working there was very helpful. However, the 3D movie was very poor. Not clear, and didn’t provide the history of the city that we were hoping to get from it. I wore shorts and got eaten alive by mosquitoes.

Hi, we're really sorry that our experience didn't meet your expectations. It was produced as a visual narration of the greek history of Siracusa, as the person at the reception for sure told you, and as it is exactly indicated in all the advertising material. The documentary It's made by the italian National Research Council (CNR) and it was also prized ad "best video documentary" at the Conference on Cultural Heritage and New Technlogy in Vienna and was also mentioned as "best scientific documentary" at the International Scientific Film Festival in Rome. We're also sorry for the mosquitos, as you were the first person complaining about that, but we'll be prepared next time.

Interesting and worth a visit.

This is a well presented film with 3D presentation of how Syracuse was built up by the Greeks. Think younger children might find it a bit much to take in.

A bit expensive for what it was...
Aug 2015
A bit like watching a very second rate 30 minute TV programme, coupled with cheesy graphics that might have worked in a computer game from about ten years ago. The production of the programme was a bit random - frequently straying into too much detail that would bewilder anyone but an academic in the audience. My kids quickly lost the plot. I guess we all learned something but I would have expected better value.

Hello, thanks for your review. We are sorry that you didn't like the show. Our product was made by professional researchers from National Research Council and an archaeologist from Arcadia University. Their work was priced on November 2013 with the Cultural Heritage and New Technologies Video Award in Wien. It also won the Student Jury Grand Prize at the International Scientific Film Festival in 2014, "for the excellence of technical, scientific and narrative contents."

Very interesting and informative - very useful if you plan to build a temple!

The film is very good at setting the Greek settlement at Syracuse in context and it provides information unavailable elsewhere. It really helps you understand what you are looking at in terms of the Duomo and temple of Apollo etc. Possibly a bit on the expensive side and the 3D effects are a bit superfluous. The commentary can be a bit over the top and cheesy at times but the English translation is pretty good and the reconstructions of town and buildings are very good indeed. The only odd note was the portrait of the native Sicilians when the Greeks arrive, which appeared to place them in the Mesolithic. This is a far from accurate portrayal as a visit to the archaeology museum will confirm.

A great little find.

A very interesting film about the history of Syracuse, it is located near the duomo but not advertised hugely well as we walked past it a few times without noticing it.

The film is interesting and well translated, the 3B effects are good.

Staff are very friendly and helpful. You also get a discount on the entrance price if you have visited the archaeological park.

Well done 3D movie about a time in Syracuse history. Short enough to keep your interest. Would be good for older kids. The 3D effects are excellent. Be aware that they require 5 people before the movie is shown.

Grazie ancora.

History coming alive
Jun 2013 • Couples
Siracusa3D is a 30 minute historical presentation of the Greek colonization of Siracusa. Before going into the theatre we are given 3D glasses to wear. The movie is something we might see on the History Channel, professionally narrated and presented and in 3D was cool. It covered a limited time period – only Greek – so maybe they’ll produce other 30 minute movies of the subsequent time periods in the future. It was a good historical overview and about architecture as well. Whether it was worth the 8 Euros will be highly individual.
