Fiora conducted a cooking class for the 6 people in our group. We had a fantastic time. She welcomed us into her home and had pre-prepared some of the time consuming parts of the dishes for us so we could get down to cooking. She taught us how to make Fried Squash Blossoms! We made Caponatina, home made cheese ravioli with brown butter sage sauce,(we filled and cut the past ourselves.) Swordfish with cherry tomatoes and topped the whole evening off with her faboulous cannoli's. Oh, and a shot of lemoncello plus her wonderful homemade tangerine cello! What a night. Highly recommend her.

My girlfriend was very interested in attending a cooking class in Sicily and Fiora absolutely was able to deliver this! We started off on a market where we purchased local ingredients, all of which were used in the cooking class. Fiora inquired about what we wanted to cook and we landed on swordfish and a variation of pasta Norma, both of which were amazing. We even made our own pasta. We had a lot of fun, and really felt that Fiora made the experience tailored and personal. Overall, very positive about the cooking class - we can certainly recommend!

This was a truly wonderful experience. Fiora took my partner and I first around the market, introducing us to what was fresh and in season. She spoke to vendors and pointed out her favourite stalls and how to select food. She then welcomed us back to her home and we started cooking! Fresh cheeses and ham wrapped figs, jams and tomatoes, an orange and mango salad with olives and pomegranate, breadcrumbed and stuffed fresh anchovies, then ricotta ravioli with tomato and sausage. All with wine and a special surprise for dessert.

Fiora taught us how to make each recipe with love and care in a way that I can't wait to repeat. We spoke about the pleasures of cooking and eating and took some things home with us.

We will be back to the market tomorrow! What a delightful experience, thank you. I recommend this very highly!

Fiora took us to the lovely local market in Ortigia and introduced us to so many new foods and tastes. It was great to have someone to answer all the food questions we had from wandering around on our own. She asked us questions about the sort of food we liked, made up our menu on the spot and then we bought the beautifully fresh fish , vegetables and herbs for us to cook with.

After coffee in Fiora's elegant lounge room we put on our special aprons and got cooking. Fiora is a very good teacher and we learnt so much about cooking Sicilian foods.

We made a wonderful feast that included stuffed fried zucchini flowers, tuna carpaccio, stuffed squid, mackerel with caramelised onions, wild asparagus omelette, smokey eggplant, little fried pink fish, anchovies and wild fennel and fresh ricotta cannelloni - all utterly delicious!

It was a lot of fun and excellent value. We would highly recommend this to people who love food ....whether you can cook or not.

Ps the next night we went to Fiora and her son's fantastic pizza, salad and hamburger restaurant in Siracusa called Piano B . Excellent quality pizzas and we had the best advocado salad and it looked so pretty.

I booked this cooking class as a Birthday present for my partner. We kicked off the day shopping at Ortigia market. After finding out what we like, Fiora instantly created a personalised menu - she must be carrying around 1000s of recipes in her head - and proceeded to buy the ingredients for all the dishes to be created. Fiora was very patient and provided useful background info on all ingredients, shops and stands and shared some valuable knowledge on Sicilian cuisine. We then proceeded to her lovely flat which turned out to be a tasteful mix of antiques and modern eclecticism. I have never seen a kitchen as well equipped as Fiora’s kitchen, she seems to have all cooking gadgets and accessories required for any cooking prep whatsoever. In the course of the morning we created several fish and meat dishes including stuffed squid and stuffed anchovies, shrimp tartar, white fish with artichokes and an amazing 'Falsomagro' or stuffed meat roll. We also learned how to make Cannolli from scratch, a great thing to know if you want to impress at a dinner party! We then ended the class with a great lunch accompanied by local wines selected by Fiora. Overall this was a great experience for getting some cooking inspiration and also learn a thing or two about this wonderful island.

I visited Syracuse in March of 2016. I was hoping to schedule a cooking class with Fiora because of all the wonderful reviews previously written. Three to four weeks before my trip I reached out and we communicated through email about schedules/times/what we were interested in cooking and cost. She was very prompt and informative then after several (9) email spanning 2 days we asked Fiora to reserve a spot for the two of us. Since that last email she never responded. I followed up with 2 emails per week until the day before our trip and she never once responded after that. I was very disappointed about the abrupt silence. I understand things come up, family situations/emergencies but after almost 3 weeks and not even a valid confirmation that due to unforeseen circumstances she could not give us a cooking class I was very disappointed.

Something wrong in this review....

My husband and I recently took a cooking class from Fiora at Sicilian Demo Cooking. It was the best experience in our entire trip to Sicily. Fiora met us at the appointed time and led us on an informative market tour, explaining many local products. The class was small-there were 4 of us-and Fiora composed the menu based on our dietary restrictions, tastes and what was fresh that day. We returned to her beautiful home, had a refreshment and began cooking. All ingredients were top quality, fresh and local. Everything was made from scratch. Fiora taught us techniques and we all cooked together. Part way through the morning, we stopped for appetizers with Prosecco and olive oil tasting. There was a wonderful selection of foods to try, my favourite being mozzeralla stuffed and fried zucchini blossoms. We moved on to create 3 delicious Scilian dishes to enjoy with wine for lunch. Fiora was not only a great chef, she was a great host. I highly recommend this cooking class. I have taken other classes in different countries and Fiora's is the best. You will not regret spending your day learning about Scillian food.

This was one of the best experiences we had in Sicily. Fiora was a joy. We started at the market in Siracusa, where Fiora explained the foods. We visited several food shops in the market area and then went back to Fiora's beautiful apartment, overlooking the harbor, to cook. We made an outstanding lunch under her guidance and then ate it with her at her table. Altogether unforgettable experience.

As an Aussie foodie we have a passion for Italian cuisine. Planning our tour to Sicily earlier in the year I asked around about cooking lessons and a colleague mentioned he had a wonderful experience with Fiora and provided her details. Organising the day and time with Fiora was zero fuss. I had no expectations. Nothing prepared us for Fiora’s oceanic generosity of spirit, time and genuine concern to meet our needs.
We met out the front of the Apollo Cafe at the appointed time and went straight to the market. The market is mesmerising with its abundance of local seafood, meat and vegetables. I particularly loved Daniela who had been standing over hot coals since 4.30 am roasting peppers, onions and eggplants. At every stall Fiora checked in with us and said ‘would you like...’ and I was wondering how much food was to be cooked. Visiting the local Sicilian gourmet food store was also a highlight.
We then went to Fiora’s very elegant home and had a drink whilst Fiora changed into her chef’s whites. What then occurred was 4 hours of gastronomic learning and heaven. I will work hard to perfect all of this deliciousness at home.
If you want to experience truly personalised customer service do not miss a cooking experience with Fiora. Thank you Fiora our stomachs and hearts were full and my husband loved the arancini you packed for him.

Sicily has phenomenal people, but Fiora tops the list. Her cooking class was one of the best experiences we had in Sicily. She took us to the open street market, where we decided on the menu, then returned to her waterfront apartment, cooked the meal in her kitchen, and ate it in her dining room. I don't know how she does it, along with managing a B&B and restaurant, while being so helpful, gracious, and friendly. And the meal? Well, let's just say you won't ever forget it. Highly recommended.
