Beautiful religious history to be found in these artifacts. So impressive to see them in person. I went for a short visit after going to the Bellomo, and it was a delightfully complementary experience.

the archbishop's palace hosts an exhibition called "Secreta Palatii" (palace's secrets), which includes the Swabian chapel with the treasure of the cathedral, the bishop's prisons and the Aligoniana library.

It's just a few steps from the Duomo, but it was desert when I visited. It is very interesting and it is a hidden gem well worth visiting.

As book lovers, we went here specifically for the library. We looked at the rest of the museum and enjoyed it, but the focus was the absolutely beautiful library - an absolute must for any book loving visitor to Ortigia. Thoroughly enjoyable.

After visiting the Cathedral of Syracuse we were also offered Secreta Palatii at the ticket office. Just a few euros more, for another nice tour inside the Swabian Chapel, Episcopal Prison and Alagon Library. On the occasion to deepen the history of Saint Lucia and its tradition. The library with over 70,000 volumes impressed me a lot.

The visit to this museum is currently limited to the main hall of the ancient archbishop's library, austere and dark like all contemporary libraries. To get to the main room of the library you walk along a corridor with display cases full of ancient tomes and portraits of bishops on the walls. Positive note of the visit is the price of the ticket, which costs only two euros.
