Un filone dell’arte gotica , si è sviluppata nel quattordicesimo secolo qui in Sicilia , si tratta di decorazioni a zig zag che ho potuto ammirare nelle decorazioni delle cornici di questo bel palazzo con importanti finestre trifore, bifore e monofore .

Una bellezza inattesa

Ortigia è piena di bei palazzi, con ricche facciate e decori barocchi, tanto che si cammina quasi sempre col naso all'aria. Questo palazzo si discosta dagli altri, apparendo inatteso in una piazzetta con la sua bella facciata in elegante stile gotico, sobria nei decori ma comunque movimentata da una monofora, una bifora ed una trifora e dall'asimmetria del portale. Una gemma nascosta di Ortigia da non trascurare.

Το ιστορικό αυτό αρχοντικό της Ορτυγίας χρονολογείται από το 1397. Το γεγονός μαρτυρείται από τη λατινική επιγραφή που βρίσκεται πάνω από την είσοδό του, στην οποία επίσης αναφέρεται ο πρώτος ιδιοκτήτης Macciotta Mergulense. Το 15ο αιώνα δωρήθηκε από τη βασίλισσα Κόνστανς της Αραγωνίας, στην οικογένεια Montalto. Έτσι, ολοκληρωμένο το όνομά του είναι Palazzo Mergulese-Montalto. Το 1837 χρησιμοποιήθηκε σαν νοσοκομείο για τα θύματα της χολέρας και το 1854 φιλοξένησε τη θρησκευτική κοινότητα "Κόρες της φιλανθρωπίας" . Το διώροφο γοτθικό αρχοντικό ξεχωρίζει για την πρόσοψή του με την τοξοτή είσοδο και τα τρία πανέμορφα παράθυρα του 1ου ορόφου. Πάνω από το τόξο της εισόδου διακρίνουμε ένα στυλιζαρισμένο "Μ" με τη λατινική επιγραφή που προαναφέραμε. Το πρωτότυπο χαρακτηριστικό του είναι ότι τα τρία τοξοτά παράθυρα είναι διαφορετικά. Ένα είναι μονό, ένα διπλό και ένα τριπλό, με όμορφα διακοσμημένα τόξα με γεωμετρικά και φυτικά μοτίβα. Χωρίσματα του διπλού και του τριπλού παράθυρου αποτελούν μικροί ελικοειδείς κίονες. Ιδιαίτερη, παράξενη, αλλά όμορφη πρόσοψη.

Questo palazzo sorprende a Siracusa, sembra trasportato da Siena. La facciata molto semplice è scandita da una finestra, una bifora e una trifora, alte sopra un fregio. L'essenzialità e le sottili decorazioni degli archi delle finestre rendono il tutto molto gradevole. Un altro gioiello a Siracusa.
