So Beautiful, please do not miss it otherwise it'll be a regretful FOMO.
I believe that with the Etna and the Stromboli by night, this should be one of the places you should visit no matter what.
And even visit it TWICE!
It is amazing by daylight, but by night its is stunning, mysterious even, so special.
You just stroll the old and narrow streets of Ortigia and suddenly you emerge in this wide opened space, incredible.
Use your time there to have a coffee or a granita at one of the many excellent coffee shops there.
Priceless!

We were on our way to the Duomo Cathedral and as soon as we stepped into the piazza we were pleasantly surprised. It is rather wide and very clean. The Duomo is very majestic. It is really busy as it is a focal point and has little shops around and also restaurants overlooking the cathedral.

Lots of shops and restaurants surround the Duomo, along with street vendors, selling unusual jewelry items.
Hint....Do not go to the Caravaggio exhibit !
2 paintings....1 by the Master...the other by his 'school'.
Several Euros lighter, you are back out on the street!

I am an admirer of Sicilian Baroque Architecture. This ensemble of churches, public buildings and museums in this Piazza are an excellent example of this type of architecture. All have been restored in an appropriate manner.

This is a great place to gain an insight into cross-religion functionality. The building is amazingly well-preserved and of interest to historians, archaeologists and artists alike

A large piazza where tourists and locals spend a lot of time. It is busy at all times of the day and night. There were four weddings at the Duomo in the two days we were there. Several ristorantes line the edges and it is a good place to people-watch while you dine or have a drink.

My offbeat sense of humor kicked in when people had their animals do their business there, pick up the present and place it in a little bag. Then later a bride appears with her long train dragging across the same area. But for the most part, it is a clean location.

Too many kids for me and at night it gets very loud. Munchkins zooming around on little scooters, soccer balls kicked across the Piazza and so on. If that bothers you be prepared.

This is a beautiful wide open piazza right next to the cathedral. Many shops and restaurants along the edge.

Visited the Siracusa Cathedral during day and had dinner on piazza in the evening great spot for people watching. The piazza is in center of town so you can’t miss it well worth the 2 euro entrance fee. Ladies need a shawl if you have sleeveless top which is common in all of Italy
