The area around the harbour basin is somewhat run down - okay for a walk if you are in the area but don't make a special effort to visit. Some restaurants but nothing special and you'll just be breathing in fumes from the heavy traffic queues - better to go a street or two further back. We did find a nice raised walk though that runs from Via Vittorio Emanuele to Via Alloro behind Via Buttera - climb some steps and you get a lovely view of old palazzos on one side and the harbour on the other - very quiet and pleasant.…

The main basin of the port, with many nice restaurants around, is full of yachts etc. However, they really have let the surrounding parts of the port go to seed. There's an opportunity here to make this a really nice area.

This area is near a lot of great "street" food restaurants and Palazzo Chiaramonte and Piazza Spirito Sancto. It is lovely to walk around and feels miles from Palermo center although being literally only a few steps.
