Nice garden, but it needs a good cleaning up
May 2021
We remembered this garden from our 2013 visit. This time it was a disappointment. Gone was the seasonal color. Most of the flower beds were overgrown with grass and weeds, and much of the shrubbery needed to be pruned.

I guess in the time of Covid, maintenance took a break.

Nice shady park near to the Cathedral.
Jun 2019 • Couples
We found the ‘Villa Bonanno’ during a one day stopover in Palermo as our ship was docked in the port here. We had opted to explore the city on foot and had prepared our own agenda with points of interest to visit. Passing along the Via Vittorio Emanuele we picked up a map with a tourist trail in the Tourist Information centre and found this lovely shaded area between the Cathedral and the Norman Palace.
The park is quite large and has wide concrete paths passing between little islands of tall palm trees and other foliage all surrounded by short hedges. On the day of our visit, the shade afforded by the palm trees here gave a welcome respite from the hot Sicilian sun. We walked around and rested in this area enjoying the peaceful ambience and also admiring the ‘Teatro Marmoreo’ statue in another part of the park just across the road.
If you are walking around Palermo in the area of the Cathedral or Norman Palace then a stop off here will help you recover some energy before exploring more of the city.

Tranquil Park
Sep 2018 • Couples
This park, situated between the cathedral and Norman Palace, was just a short walk from our hotel and we had to walk through it to get into the town. It is not at all busy and a peaceful place to sit if you want to sit and take a break in the shade. Full of palm trees and other plants, along with busts and the remains of some early villas, it is worth walking through if you are going to the palace.

A lovely place to stop between the Cathedral and the Palace
Mar 2018 • Couples
The park is very near to the Norman Palace and makes the perfect place to stop, relax, and cool off in the shade. There is statuary and a fountain, lots of palm trees and benches for sitting.

Interesting and relaxing
Oct 2017 • Couples
We wandered in here for a break from the city and to just sit down and rest. There is a lovely relaxing garden, fountains, plenty of benches to sit on and lovely palm trees. There are the remains of the villa and some interesting mosaic flooring to see.

Peaceful Park
Jun 2016 • Couples
A lovely park lined with palm trees and green scenery; in between the Palazzo dei Normanni e Cappella Palatina and the Cathedral. Really nice for a little wander if you are visiting either of these attractions; we found it was quite nice just for some afternoon relaxation! It seems quite popular with some of the locals, a nice place to find some shade!

Nice park with palm trees & fountains
Nov 2015 • Couples
We walked through this palm tree park en-route to the cappella palatina. There are seats along the pathways so you can rest & watch the world go by. The palm trees don't provide a huge amount of shade, so on a hot day, its not a cool, lush oasis. On our visit there was a sour, fermenting smell, which I imagine were fallen dates. Not the nicest, but worth a walk through if in the area.

a beautiful park lush with palm trees
Jun 2015 • Couples
By foot, from the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Assumption of Virgin Mary, to the The Palazzo dei Normanni also known as the Royal Palace of Palermo, you'll traverse through this wonderful square which is covered by a large open park which is occupied almost entirely by a vast range of palm trees
