In a small way as way Bentivegna there is one of the most beautiful churches in Palermo. The church of St. Peter and St. Paul has three large arched entrances. The ceiling height of about thirty feet is completely covered by depictions. Above the central altar we have St. Peter, Jesus and St. Paul. Above the altar of the left we have the holy altar of Sicilian saints (S. Cristina, S. Oliva, St. Rosalia, Santa Ninfa and S. Agata). Above the altar on the right St. Anne, St. Joachim, St. John the Baptist, St. Elizabeth and St. Joseph.
In addition, there are several altars along the nave dedicated to various saints.
The current priests are Father Ugo and his father Mario, the eldest. Both are great pastors and with such dedication. Truly a beautiful church.

I am so glad I stumbled across this little church while I was walking around Palermo. It is free to enter and, once inside, the more you look the more you discover. From the outside it is not much to look at so it's easily missed. I was lucky enough to be there on a Sunday so was able to witness some of the mass. You can make a small donation as you leave if you choose, which I did as it was worth it. Take the time to stop.

It was just from this small church in the center of the city that started my long journey to Palermo, it is placed next to my hotel in a street parallel to the central Via Roma.
This church was small but very welcoming, beautiful outside but inside is remarkable, nothing to do with the baroque style that characterizes most of the churches in Palermo, but it was a pleasant discovery.
