About
Ciatu was founded by young, creative crafters who have decided to get together and give birth to new brands. Innovation and tradition blend to create objects made from leather and recycled inner tubes. All made entirely by hand. The products realised by Elena Gambino and Fabrizio Lisciandrello are entirely handmade. From the cutting to the sewing, each item is created without the use of machinery or electric power. Inspired by the fusion of traditional crafts with cutting edge design, every item they produce is unique, and displays an individual character impossible to achieve with modern mass-production. The majority of leather used in the creation of their work is vegetable tanned; a process using natural tannins obtained from trees, such as oak, mimosa or chestnut. Tyre inner-tubes are also used as a modern, 100% recycled material. Contains no animal product

If you are looking for shops to buy bags or other leather products for yourself or to bring back home, this is the one you should visit in Palermo. All pieces are unique, most of them beautiful and made by local craftsman.

In Palermo, Piazza Aragona you may find the best hand made bags made by a young artist who is so talented and very gentle. In CIATU is the place where a woman can feel so special and you can not go out without buying two or three bags ;)))) you can chose your bag and custom it or you can pick the leather and he will create one "Borsa" unique for you! I had a very nice experience in Palermo and specially in CIATU.
PS: and the prices are really affordable specially for the good materials you buy...
I had to share this experience and i hope you will love it too if you visit Sicily!

After wandering through the impressive museum of Modern Art near Piazza Aragona, my eye was caught be a scrappy cardboard sign which said ' handcrafted artworks' and an arrow. A few steps on,at Piazza Aragona number 3, my eye caught sight of a tiny glass fronted shop displaying very 'edgy' handbags. One of the artists was enjoying the sunshine outside and he was very kind in trying to respond to my questions about the array of intriguing items on display. It seems that he makes the leather items and his partner crafts the bags which are made from recycled materials. For those who enjoy the Japanese aesthetic in fashion, many of these bags would appeal. Prices are reasonable and especially so for the uniqueness of each item.

My wife and I stumbled upon this unique shop when walking around the old city one evening and we were entranced by the craftsmanship and the imagination displayed in this little leatherwork boutique. Fabrizio was most welcoming and took a visible delight in showing us the results of his craft. The prices were an order of magnitude lower than what we would have expected to pay back home in Paris. We recommend them most strongly.

We stumbled on Ciatu ALAB shop by accident when it was closed, and ended up coming back to have a better look. Fabrizio's creations are one of a kind, made from softest leather. And if you feel you want to make some adjustments, or have something custom made - he is your man. Most welcoming and imaginative, he definitely has something special to offer.
Bought a lovely dark green small shoulder bag and wish I could buy another two. Alas, common sense prevailed.
The designs range form utterly crazy to beautifully crafted more conservative options with a twist.
I recommend him highly and next time in Palermo will certainly pay another visit.
