- Jenny BProvince of Verona, Italy1 contributionJenny and Sue learn street foodWe had a wonderful lesson with Maria Pia and Kharim. It was lots of fun and interesting chatting to them about food and life in Sicily. The food was amazing and I just hope that we can reproduce the meal when we get home… so that it will bring back memories of our fabulous day. I would highly recommend this course to anyone wishing to have a taste of authentic Sicilian good. Thank you so much Maria Pia and KharimVisited November 2023Traveled with friendsWritten November 27, 2023
- Cindy FLos Angeles, California7 contributionsDelicious dinner of your own makingOf course, coming to Italy, I expected to eat delicious food. However, I did not expect that my delicious food would also be something I prepared myself! What a delight it was to learn to make classic Sicilian dishes at Mamma Corleone! The instructor was a delight, and the translator, Karin was entertaining and helpful and interesting! Could not have had a better experience, only wish I hadn’t eaten all day so I could have had enough space for all the food we prepared. Plus colorful aprons (for €5) are a perfect souvenir! Would recommend to anyone coming to Palermo!Visited November 2023Traveled with friendsWritten November 28, 2023
- Sian W1 contributionThe best of Sicily in a morningWe had a beautiful morning cooking with Maria and Lorenzo! Traditional Sicilian menu with amazing quality ingredients - the food was so delicious, the best we had on our trip (and that was a high bar). I had a lovely time with Maria and Fede our translator. We made delicious prawn and pistachio pasta followed by salted cod with a sfincione style topping. And then cannoli which were to die for. I was inspired to make all these dishes when I get home. Thoroughly recommended!

We had a delightful afternoon cooking, chatting and eating with Maria Pia and Gina. As it was a Sunday we were able to customise the class to a degree. We made Caponata, Arancini and Cannoli which is the main reason for taking the class. Maria Pia made sure to adapt the arancini to a Gluten Free version so that I wouldn't miss out on tasting them. As the cannoli weren't gluten free Maria Pia prepared a quick gluten free dessert so that I wouldn't miss out on a sweet at the end of our meal. We drove from Cefalu to Palermo to take the class and I would have no hesitation in recommending the class to anyone interested in learning to prepare authentic sicilian cuisine.

My friend really wanted to do a cooking class in Sicily, and while i don't really like to cook, I decided to tag along. It was one of the best days!
Our host was a lovely lady who taught us how to make pasta with norma sauce, eggplant meatballs and dessert. It was a very fun experience, we had some wine as we cooked and I loved every minute of it. There was also a translator which made it very authentic
Do yourself a favour and go to this. It's not to be missed!

I have never been to a cooking class. I recently moved to Palermo from Canada and a visiting friend encouraged me to join him for a TRUE SICILIAN Cooking Class. I had seen may of the dishes in the street market and Mamma Corleone Customized a Selection of Dishes. I LEARNED SO MUCH - not only about the ingredients, but the culture and history behind the dishes and practicing my Italian. I plan on taking another class in the near future to learn more TRADITIONAL SICILIAN DISHES

Our group of three Australians who like to cook booked this class at the last minute. What a find! Maria Pia and her translator Lucy, over a friendly and leisurely 4 hours in their small but well designed kitchen just near the Duomo, taught us to cook panelle (chickpeas fritters), arachini and pasta alla norma. We all cooked - and later ate - each dish, accompanied by a glass of wine and followed by real coffee. Well organized, nicely paced and the right amount of support so that we all successfully created each dish. New skills, new recipes and a really fun time. Highly recommended.

I can't rate our experience highly enough. Maria Pia was fantastic teaching us some great Sicilian dishes and there was so much food that we are set for dinner tonight as well. Alesia did a fantastic job translating and giving us Italian lessons at the same time.
What attracted us to book with Mama Corleone was that we were able to choose the dishes to cook from a reasonably good range of options and were able to add a fourth dish for a reasonable cost. A service provider with that sort of flexibility is rare to find these days.
The atmosphere was friendly, the setup was professional and clean, the wine was great and the company excellent.
Book this place quickly because once everyone finds out about it they will be booked up quickly.

We were on a cruise through the mediterranean and Palermo was my favorite day of the vacation because of our cooking class at Mama Corleone‘s. It was a short and beautiful walk from our cruise port to the school – it is just down the alley from a beautiful cathedral in Palermo.
Maria was so accommodating and customized the menu to our wish list. She was an great instructor and she and her translator never tired of our questions! The set up of the school is so intimate and allows everyone to have a hands-on experience, cooking their dishes at their own personal cook station – perfect for our group of six. Everything was delicious, but I was especially a fan of the octopus salad and the pasta with shrimp and pistachio, and the pistachio pudding for dessert—all so yummy! Highly recommend!

This is a fantastic experience and was everything we hoped for. Wonderful privilege to have such great one to one tuition from Maria Pia and Gina who could not have been more friendly or generous. Massively recommended.
