About
Discover Mt. Etna with a geologist I am a naturalist guide with a degree in geology with more than twenty years of experience in organizing eco-friendly excursions on Mt.Etna. This project, since its beginning, has been oriented towards sustainable tourism with a solid foundation on ecology, natural sciences and ethics and it is addressed to travellers, naturalists , photographers, ecologists, walkers and free spirits. We organise sustainable walking tours in the most peaceful and primordial places of Mt. Etna untouched by mass tourism and we make sure that our activities have the least possible impact on the wonderful and fragile natural balance of the volcano. If you want to discover the beauty and the power of Mt. Etna and the web of relations that form this unique ecosystem, this the excursion for you!

The private Etna tour with Carmelo was the highlight of our Sicily trip. It was a pleasure to spend our time with such a friendly, funny, helpful and professional guide, who has a deep knowledge on Etna, its history, geology and flora and fauna. We really enjoyed his passion and we were inspired by his mindset and respect for the nature.
We hiked on non touristic spots with amazing views to the summit, side craters and the surrounding area of Mt. Etna. We stopped at some lava flows and Carmelo explained the eruptions and the stages it will take for regrowth (btw. his English is excellent!). We had an unforgettable day and were never bored. We could have listened to him much more. If you are looking for a trip away from the mass tourism, we can absolutely recommend to book his tour.
Carmelo, Thank you very much, for this wonderful experience that will leave a long lasting impression.

Carmelo was a brilliant guide, and we had a brilliant day. We started by learning about some of the features lower down the mountain, before going on a fascinating walk across woods and moon landscapes of Etna's higher slopes. He described everything in a fascinating way and was able to answer all our questions. We much enjoyed the philosophical discussions too! He was also accommodating to our logistical requirements. I would really recommend this tour, especially if you are interested in the natural world and in exploring the mountain peacefully and sustainably.

We booked the private tour and it was a pleasure to spend those 7 hours with Carmelo. It was a Genuine excursion. Carmelo shared his passion about volcanos with us and has deep knowledge on Etna, its flora and fauna. We hiked on non touristic spots while Carmelo taught us about Etna history and ecosystem. Also, we really enjoyed his mindset and the fact that this excursion is respectful of ecotourism.
Finally, Carmelo is adaptive, in love with nature and you’ll never be bored with him. We could have stayed 2-4 hours more if it was possible.

We strongly recommend to book your trip with Carmelo to all those who intend to visit The Etna Park away from touristic spots.
The expertise of Carmelo in geology and botany as well as the passion he transmitted on his work made this experience a very special and joyful one.
Furthermore, this proposal of ecotourism, showing respect for the environment and avoiding mass tourism let you spend an unforgettable day in such a special and unique ecosystem.
Finally, the ratio price to services offered is for granted one of the best for this activity.

The tour with Carmelo was a beautiful and very special experience. His love and passion for Etna and his job ignite interest and curiosity. He’s on a mission to bring more awareness to the impacts of mass tourism and creating a different narrative with his very unique eco friendly tours where he shares his knowledge on volcanology, geology, ecology, botany and philosophy. We highly recommend his tour that will leave a long lasting impression.

Carmelo answered correct and fast to our questions upfront and promised to adjust the tour to our kids (5-7yr) pace.
We visited some side craters in an area visited and walked by locals (and other tour guides 😉) which makes it a quite and inspiring walk.
For lunch we stopped at a refugio to lunch in the area.
Carmelo was able to add context on the history, volcanic aspects and the nature around making it an informative tour - understanding what you see ✔️

A really enjoyable trip up Etna, far away from the crowds. Carmello is both a hugely knowledgable guide and a charming storyteller. Our group of 8 was the perfect size to explore the volcano and understand its history and the flora and fauna that inhabit it. I would highly recommend Carmello over the more commercial tours available.

We had a group hike to Etna in July 2017. It was a large group, 20+ people and we all payed attention to what our guides were saying because they were really interesting, and what is most important, really knowledgeable about the Etna area and the volcanology in general!
I would recommend this trip to all of the people interested in the nature and living as one with the nature.

Hola
