    Cool place to see
Cool place. A lot of dead fish. Smells like hell, but is pretty authentic and interesting. There's a lot of restaurants and cocktail bars around so you can relax there and spent a nice time.

Not to be missed, come to to try
Place not to be missed, authentic food and fish market with great atmosphere. The fish section is fatntastic and eye-catching. If you like fishes you have to come and taste from fresh meat starters to grilled fishes or octopus. Oyster (1,5-2 Euro) portion of sea urchins (5Euro). Even if you will not pick any fish is interesting just to watch around. Open everyday till 15:00.

A fish market between scenic old buildings
This fish market was the first stop on our walking tour in Catania. But it was afternoon, the vendors with their merchandise were gone and the place was being cleaned and prepared for the next day. For us, the most interesting was the baroque Fontana dell’Amenano in the northern corner, fed by a small subterranean river, now almost completely covered with lava from the Etna and visible only between the fish market and the Piazza del Duomo!

If you like to take a very best pictures... Yes go to Cztania fish market.
It s impressed how they manage to keep this market in a very central location. When you entered to the market it s like traveling to the past for min. 60years.
You ll feel like to be a part of a nice old italian movie.
Of course you will find out also many nice best Italian fruits like lemons,oranges,vegetables,pistaccios... Dolce, beutifull piza pasta spots.. Dont forget to take a coffee and just to watch and to enjoy all locals everyday rituals

Just a couple minutes walk form the dome this is a nice fish market, not the best in Southern Europe but certainly in the top 5th. All kinds of fish around, but also other goods as well and a lot of small restaurants that cater directly from the market at very reasonable prices.

Just have a walk and enjoy. Oh, can be very busy and do not take your best clothes and wear segos that can take a beating.

Our second trip to Sicily and I couldn't wait to see the fish market again. It was definitely something that I think of when I think of Catania. Amazing fish display and activity. There are lots of stalls that sell fruits and vegetables as well as meats but they aren't quite as fascinating. Definitely would recommend.

It’s in the center of Catania, so easy to find it. We enjoyed wandering around and looking at fresh products. Fishermen offered their fish, salmon, crabs etc. It was very lively and fantastic like a theatre play. We bought lots of fresh food. Don’t miss it!

The Highlight of Our Catania Visit!
We had a great time walking around the market. The vendors are a hoot! We had fresh oysters that were absolutely delicious! We had ceviche.. We had fire roasted artichokes and peppers. Everything was on point! Honestly, this was the most fun we had in Catania.

The market is most memorably, fishmongers. A cacaphony of sellers' pitches. All at the same time. A Verdi or a Pucccini could never replicate the scene, the sound, the soul, of this chorus. Cigarettes hanging from every other monger's mouth. Nobody seems to notice that there is above a sky. Those mongers are down in a depression in the man-made environmnet. Sort of like a buy and sell pit on a commodities exchange. And just as pandemonious. Around the upper (by about three feet) permimeter are raw meat makeshift "stalls", as imperminent as they are open all around, with dogs and goats hanging naked and usually headless up side down. Below an ancient creek has been contained in concrete, but still open to view from the passageway above. It whooshes by down below you.
In the early afternoon blessedly all this mercantile madness and mayhem is gone. You seem to not be able to wait for it to happen again tomorrow.

The Ballaro market of Palermo is fun. The fish market of Catania is unforgettable. I've never seen anything like it, and I loved it. It surprised me that a street market like this thrives with such intensity in 2013. Thank goodness. I really can't put into words how incredible it was. Men yelling about their fresh fish. Others cutting them up. A big crush of humanity. Fish you've never seen before. Vegetables, meat and cheese displayed in ways you've never seen. The market is immense and extends into tiny streets near the main site. Don't overlook them.
