The city museum is housed in the medieval castle Castelo Ursino. The piazza around the castello is very nice. The castle is well restored. Inside there is a collection of some archaeological finds and paintings. On the top of one of the towers there is...More

There is a good selection of Sicilian art from the 14th to 18th Centuries. Some beautifully preserved Greek urns and figures, that have been retrieved in the countryside around Catania. But the exhibition is quite hard work and best for those with a specific interest...More

Well worth visiting. For only 3 euros not only do you get to see a collection of historical paintings and artifacts, but you can also access a viewing point from which you can see Etna.

Although it was an interesting building there was not as much to see inside as I thought from previous reviews, there is a huge amount of rather average religious painting and a few nice mosaics, it otherwise the architecture is the only redeeming feature

I really enjoyed my visit to the castello, the entrance fee is 6 euros and there are several exhibits housed within the old castle walls. When I was there they had an Andy Warhol exhibition at no extra cost.

At the time we visited there was a temporary Warhol exhibition on the 2nd floor, which was an interesting contrast to the historical art and sculpture exhibits on the lower floors.
