Such a lovely space! It's a UNESCO world Heritage site because of the buildings that line the square; they are made of volcanic rock and are black and white and lovely. The elephant is odd, but there it is! There are number of excellent restaurants and cafes around the perimeter, the fish-market is a must-do morning activity and you'll just... More

The buildings in Piazza Duomo were rebuilt over a mediaeval piazza, after the devastating 1693 earthquake, which claimed 63% of the population and destroyed much of the city. Here are all the essential ingredients for a beautiful piazza, a few palaces, couple of fountains, gate and of course a cathedral and just for good measure, throw in Roman Baths, located... More

The piazza of the duomo is pleasant enough, and there are some nice bars on one side where you can sit and admire the architecture and watch the world go by. The Duomo closes at 12 very unhelpfully, so we were not able to go inside since we did not want to hang about until 4pm. Not the finest example... More

We went to visit St Agata because I love Carmen Consoli's music and this is her town. The piazza is really lovely and worth reflecting upon at length.

The cathedral of Catania. Stunning architecture and stone work. Remains of St. Agatha are here. Unique

The Piazzo Duomo is always buzzing, with constant coaches unloading camera toting tourists. The Duomo is architecturally stunning with the white limestone. The centre of the square has the famous elephant statue. The day we were there we wandered down the alleys containing the fish market stalls, and small cafes that provide the freshest fish lunches.

This square is always bush with people, both tourists and locals. The square is at the base of Etna street and you can look at Mt Etna from its beginning. The fish market is nearby and there are many cafes to linger in. there are several museums and churches off the square. The major shopping district is also a short... More

Catania is a big city, which didn't impress me, but the sq around the Duomo is the most beautiful part of it. In the center of this lovely piazza is the Elephant fountain from where you can sit and watch the impressive Duomo, main Church. A fish market and another regular market are close by, along with the beautiful Amenano... More
