A beautiful part of the old city center
Sep 2021
Very close to Duomo, a parallel street with via Etnea. A street with a number of baroque bldgs, in particular churches (San Benetto, San Guiliano) and the famous arch of San Francesco. A quiet street, where you can relax, walk and take pictures. Do not miss it!

Beautiful Baroque Buildings
Jun 2021
This is a mostly pedestrian street lined with beautiful Baroque buildings. Our favorite was the Chiesa di San Francesco d'Assisi all'Immacolata. Unfortunately, when we visited in early June, many of the churches were closed.

Lovely road, closed to traffic. You can appreciate the baroque style. Rich in Church. Romantic Luogho. Unesco World Heritage Site. One word ... Great

Lovely street
Dec 2019
I enjoyed strolling along the Via dei Crociferi much better than it's larger more famous parallel sister, Via Etnea. It is much quieter yet lined with old but beautiful Baroque buildings. Highly recommend taking this detour.

Street of the Cross-bearers
May 2019
The Via dei Crociferi is generally considered as one of the best places to study Catania's baroque architecture. It runs almost parallel to the city's main throughfare, the Via Etnea, but is much more quiet. At its southern end is Piazza San Francesco d'Assisi, from where it is accessed through the arch of San Benedetto.

In the street can be found several churches and palazzi. At its northern end is the Villa Cerami, now belonging to the faculty of jurisprudence of Catania's university. Unfortunately many buildings of this street are in a sad state of neglect, some sprayed over like the now unreadable information boards.

Walk along here and find many restaurants and places to eat - a mix of trattoria's restaurants and churches. Every cuisine on offer.

One of the hidden gems of Catania
May 2019 • Couples
Find this street off Etna's main shopping and buzzing atmosphere for a more relaxed leisure walk with some fine spots for wining and dining

Great Fun to Explore!
Apr 2019 • Couples
Wander into any of the several churches, convents, and monasteries that are on this street or nearby it and you will be surprised to find one after another beautiful interior space, most if not all in a splendid Baroque style.
