We booked the mount Etna hike tour on short notice, Marco was quick to get back to us and all the arrangements were made.. Coming from Syracuse it was no problem to be picked up at the bus station, even after our bus was 20 minutes delayed arriving! Alessio and Marco were informative and enthusiastic, about Etna, flowers, volcanoes and Sicily in general. Everything was smooth and well organised. The borrowed shoes were very comfortable. Recommend EtnaRound for mount Etna tours!

A wonderful day from start to finish. Communication with Marco was great. Pickup went smoothly. Sandwiches he helped us purchase for our lunch also great. He outfitted us with all the gear we needed, all in great condition. Hike up and down volcano was terrific. Marco is super knowledgeable and gave us lots of information. His pacing is impeccable, not too fast even for a 66 year old with brand new hip. Just the right number and duration of rest stops. Couldn’t have asked for a better day, thank you Marco!

A great day out with Diego visiting Etna. He was full of interesting information. The visit to the cave was memorable and we finished off with some wine and honey tasting. Beautiful weather and views topped the whole day off. Highly recommended!

We spent one of the best days of our vacation in Sicily hiking Mt Etna with Marco. Marco is a fantastic guide and his love for “mama Etna” is contagious. We did a four hour hike to one of the craters and it was fantastic. Marco is very knowledgeable and can answer any question about Etna.
After the hike we spent the afternoon eating a delicious lunch and drinking the great wines of Irene Badala in her vineyard. It’s a small and beautiful winery. We enjoyed talking to Irene and her daughter and their red and wine wines were great.
Overall I highly recommend a tour with Marco!

We stayed at the B&B Crociferi and our host booked this tour for us. We couldn’t have been happier. It was a small tour of 6, and Marco was the perfect guide. He’s friendly and very knowledgeable. There were a couple people in the group who were a little slower than the rest, but he was good and stayed with them and assured them that we’d go slow and stay together. He took us to a few different spots for different views. Highly recommended. Grazie Marco!

Marco & his friend/fellow guide picked up our party of 10 (5 adults, 5 kids) from our villa in Acireale in 2 4x4s. We stopped in lovely non touristy town of Trecastagni for provisions before going on an exciting and fun bumpy off-road adventure across old lava fields. Then 2nd stop to look over the awesome Valle del Bove. Then on to the main stop off point on Etna for exploring the old craters. We had asked for an easy trip, no challenging hiking. And that's what we got, perfect for our group. Enough adventure and feeling in touch with Etna, without any scary challenge. Marco speaks great English, has a wonderful sense of humour, and told us so much about Etna and volcanoes in general. Fascinating and fun. The trip back down involved a stop for a picnic, with amazing Sicilian food, bread, olives, cheese and wine provided by Marco. A few days later we texted Marco with some Etna questions and he responded, no problem. Above and beyond what we expected from the half day trip. We paid 60 Euros per head, great value considering we got picked up and dropped back to our villa, had longer than a half day adventure, lovely food we hadn't expected, learned a lot from a knowledgable and very likeable Sicilian! Thank you, Marco xxx

We were picked up just before 9 on August 5 by Marco for an exciting day trip to Mt Etna. Weather conditions were perfect: not too hot and not too sunny. First Marco drove our group of 6 to a bar for a last toilet visit or a coffee before heading for the mountain. The bar served delicious espresso and Americano for an unbelievable price of just € 1.80 total for both! All the while Marco shared information about mount Etna, its history and the schedule for the day. First a bumpy offroad trip in the landrover, showing the flora on two older lava flows. Did you know that only after 500 years all plants and trees can grow on lava? The pioneer is always broom.
After the offroad we went up to Rifugio Sapienza where we took the cable car (in my view the €60 for the ticket is very expensive for a 20 minutes ride plus minibus ride!) up from 1.900m to 2.500m and than by minibus further up to 2.920m. Fantastic views, stormy weather and as expected chilly. Marco told the group a lot about recent Etna activities and about the landscape full of craters, ash and lava. There was even a spot with ice hidden under the ash! Very impressive to walk on an active volcano and still feeling safe. Constantly there was a roaring sound from the top and sometimes explosions. Normal procedure according to Marco and he explained that Etna is a friendly volcano: eruptions start not with a big explosion but a smaller. Lava flows are slow due to the low percentage of silica (yes i learned a lot that day). After this excitement back by cable car. Down at the parking we bought some delicious honey from the Etna. Recommended! We had a picnic in a lower green area, where we had the chance to try some local Sicilian food. Last but not least Marco brought us in one of the lava tunnels, another adventure under the ground with helmets and torch light where we could see a little bit history of a lava flow and the process how a lava tunnel is formed. Before heading back to Catania Marco showed us the valley of the ox an impressive lava caldera formed by two eruptions more than 60.000 years ago. Thank you again Marco for this unforgettable tour!

We are a family of 4 from Denmark. We went on the Etna top tour with Marco as our guide. It was even better than expected and we learned so much about Etna that we didnt know. Marco's love for Etna is contageous and we were so amazed. The picnic was very tasty sicilian specialties and in a beautiful area. Marco is very good with children and our kids loved him and keep saying "Marco is EPIC!!". Driving off road in a jeep gives a much more exiting experience of Etna, and we are so happy we chose this instead of a bus tour.

There's absolutely nothing bad I can say about this experience.

Me and 5 other friends had booked the Etna+scuba tour about a month before. Marco was kind enough to pick us up from a pretty remote location in Aci Castello and drop us off in the evening in the same place. The Etna tour was great, included a stop in a nice village built mostly using lava stone, a bit of off-road, a visit in a lava cave, a tasty picnic and lots and lots of information and stories from Marco.

We were pretty late to arrive at the scuba club, but no one seemed to mind. We had a lot of fun there, despite the fact that we were all beginners and required the full attention of the staff - they were very friendly and also seemed to have a lot of fun with us.

All in all it was a great day and would definetly recommend etnaround to anyone looking for a great time and a great tour.

My wife and I were very much looking forward to visiting Mt Etna whilst we were spending a few days in Catania. We spoke to a few locals around town who recommended that we see it with Marco. We arranged with our hotel receptionist to organise a trip for us for the following morning. At 9:00am sharp we were greeted at our hotel lobby by 'Bear Grylls' 😃(Marco). I could tell immediately that it was going to be a great day. He started by saying that his English was not great but this was not true, I found his grasp on the English language sometimes was much better than my own.
The three of us hopped into his 4x4 and heading towards the mountain. Along the way he explained the birth of the mountain and told us everything about its surrounded craters and landscape. We made a quick pit stop at a local village where he gathered together a few essentials for the forthcoming picnic. We proceeded towards the mountain via an old abandoned military route (the 4x4 was used to its maximum potential) where we could see old lava flows and rebirthing forest land, (amazing). When we eventually got to the craters we were able to walk all around them whilst being educated on how they came to be. Marco is very well educated in his field, he has studied volcanology.
On our return down the road we stopped off at a forest were he provided us with a picnic; all local produce and a bottle of his Grandfathers home made wine. We proceeded onwards towards the ox valley, this is a place where the lava flowed down the mountain for three years, it was quite breathtaking.
On our return to our hotel Marco stopped off at his home and introduced us to the love of his life and best friend, Julia his dog. This was the icing on the cake for my wife as she is a huge dog lover.
We thoroughly enjoyed our day spent with Marco and would recommend him to everyone.
Thank you
Paul & Rachael
