    Catania's green lung
A break from watching churches, palazzi and baroque architecture can be had at the Giardino Bellini by Via Etnea. In fact it is not really a garden, but a park with mainly trees from Mediterranean and Subtropical areas, thus also quite a few palmtrees. The 'Giardino's' origin go back to the end of the 19th century. In the park there is a little hill with a bandstand, the Collinetta del Salvatore, and also a 'Viale degli Uomini Illustri' with busts of several famous people connected to Catania. The park is named after Catania's most beloved son, the opera composer Vincenzo Bellini, of whom there is marble bust by the southern entrance.

Beautiful park with not many seating
The park is beautiful, especially the entrance part. However, there are not many possibilities to have a proper seat. Despite this fact, it is definitely worth visiting this place - and maybe one is fortunate enough to have some live music playing.

Great park but dog owners ruin it
Open park area at the heart of Catania with really good areas for walking, exercising and enjoying a stroll with dogs. The most interesting part of the park is the plants that is changed everyday to show the date, feel like it's going beyond but in Italy, it's all an art. Really enjoyed the walks but didn't like the dog owners who didn't clean up after their dogs and ruin the experience for everyone.

Beautiful park, a bit higher up in the center of Catania, is a wonderful retreat with gardens, tall trees, a pond, statues and playground for children. I was a bit confused as locals call this park Villa Bellini. In the local dialect 'villa' means garden.
Formerly it was part of a private 18th century estate. Then only for the rich, now open for the general public.

This park was built in 19. century in honor of Bellini, the famous composer. We walked there and enjoyed quiet, relaxing time. Around there are green grass, nice plants, palm trees and many statues. It’s very popular for locals: they had picnik or walked with their kids and dogs.

It is a huge park in Catania where local people spend there free time: sport, walking with dogs, playing with the kids or just hanging out.
It is really huge with a big playground and a place for ball games.
You can go for a large walk there or just sit and watch the people and the dogs.

Nice to get away from the crowds and actually have a bit of greenery around you. I think this is the only peaceful place in a horrible city. Nice park but I think it could be much better with a few ice cream stalls or snack stalls.

This park is a nicely located pleasant respite from a run-down city. The park is small but has a variety of trees and shrubs. I have been in many botanical gardens, but this one leaves me kind of cold. However, it is still a green spot for all to use.

This great park was built with a lot of love to the details.
We came here to find some shades and quietness. We found both and had a nice break from the rush of the city.
Especially nice was the pathway with all the busts of the important men and the pavilion - unfortunately was this one not in the shade.

A beautiful city park with amazing views of Etna and a super close proximity to the legendary Savia.

Make sure you also check out the massivie Moreton Bay fig tree. It's incredibly impressive!!!

The beautiful city of Catania, nearest Mount Etna, has a lot of attractions. Here we are in the Catanese Parka, the Villa Bellini.

The Giardino Bellini is close to center. It has amazing views and it is the perfect place for a hot day. It is quite large and good for walking or have jogging in the morning.
