Amazing really underground place to visit in Catania. Almost nobody was here and during the hot hours of siesta it's a perfect place to find some peace and rest. Don't miss the finds the lazy cats those are sleeping so deep they hardly noticed us :)

We visited the gardens following a gruelling although enjoyable day out at Mount Etna. The photos on Tripadvisor don't actually do it justice, it is really very pretty. There are plenty of places to just sit, relax and maybe enjoy a picnic. There is a public unisex toilet there which was clean and well maintained. There isen't a cafe so... More

Not an expert in botanical gardens but I enjoyed the walk in the cool shade of the trees. It was a good break from the usual trouristy walking around Catania. It's free. All the trees/plants were named which was interesting.

Catania is a very busy and lively city and it was nice to visit the Botanical garden to get some peaceful rest from all the honking cars and shouting people.

After visiting Mt. Etna, touring downtown Catania, and a trip to Siracusa, my family and I were in need of some relaxing down time. But with an 8 year old and 6 year old, we couldn't stay cooped up in our tiny rental apartment, so we headed out to the botanical gardens after breakfast. It was the perfect way to... More

I really enjoyed visiting here and spent a lovely afternoon relaxing and enjoying the gardens. It cost 3 Euros to enter and was well worth the cost. The gardens were well maintained and had a lot of variety. I loved the cactus collection in particular. It was really quiet and tranquil and I enjoyed being able to read a book... More

The Orto Botanico is a lovely botanical garden near the city center on Via Etnea, close to a bus stop. The ticket office is at the front gate and admission is only a few euros. A map is provided, but the gardens are small enough (16, 000 square meters) that you can wander around and enjoy it all within a... More

Safe your time for something else. A few things that are strange: 1. It looks nice in the pictures. Reality is quite different and garden is dissapointing. 2. They charge an entry fee (3 EURO/person) since at the same time people can enter the garden from the other side for free. 3. Even they charge you, some places are absolutely... More

Nice Gardens that are nicely done, but not that well maintained. The hothouses are really nice if you want to experience the rainforest and have never been to one, or have.
