Didn't go to the top on the mega-expensive cable-car, but no need to, as lots to do and see at the lower station area (Refuge Sapienza). Walk round the Silvestri crater, and just climb up the volcanic rock paths to any of the nearby craters....More

We visited Mount Etna with Sikania Cultural Ecursions from Catania and our guide Marco Parentignoti. Marco made the volcano come alive with his knowledge of its eruptions and history. Walking atop the various craters at 7,000 feet above sea level was thrilling, and the views...More

You can read books about the Etna, so I will not tell you about magnificent views and great hikes. Rather, I tell you to make sure to get to the upper station of the funicular by 2 the latest so that you can still catch...More

Our bus of teenagers and chaperones were guided by Paolo of Excursions and Trekking. With helmets on and flashlights in hand, we descended into a cave. Very cool! Everyone loved it! Then, we hiked around 3 craters. Paolo is a scientist, but, also was able...More

I am happy that I went there but to be honest it wasn't a great experience. The cable car is too expensive (30€) and doesn't take you anywhere near the top. The view from where the cable car stops isn't that good either so your...More

It was ok to go up and see mount etna, however we went on a Friday and everywhere was closed. It was very windy but I didn't expect anything less for a February.

Take an excursion with a good guide (e.g Etna Finder) and you will have the experience of a lifetime! The scenery is extraordinarily beautiful and the history is fascinating.

There was snow on the day I went which added to the beauty of the view. I used the cable car to the highest point and will remember the day forever, and the feeling of TOP OF THE WORLD!!

If you are referring to Mt Etna, we hired a guide who drove us to the 2500 meter level from the east side. We did not climb. The area is very impressive and beautiful. I believe that few people are allowed to the top since... More
I am trying to figure out if there is a way to do a Mt Etna tour getting picked up in catania in the morning but dropped off in Taormina after. I'm looking for a way to do it without a rental car if that is possible. Would hiring a private driver probably be the only way? If so, does anyone have any recommendations on a good one?

I'm heading to Etna in June with local family but unsure if we can do 4x4 trucks and cable car once we get there or is there a way to book in advance? Or is the only option to do this through a tour? Thanks
