We hired Salvatore to take us to our mother's place of origin, Petralia Sottana. Salvatore was a terrific guide in a pretty remote hilltop town of Sicily. We arranged to visit a few locations in a short amount of time. We had only 1 full day there and wanted to make the most of it.
He was polite, the car immaculate and he was fun. Well worth the money to hire someone who is relatable to folks from the Northeast (USA) and also able to connect with the locals. Salvatore was knowledgable, flexible and easy to work with. Sal is a gem and we would absolutely hire him again for our next trip!

I can't begin to state how happy I am that we booked Insight Italy for our trip to Sicily. We used the service to hire a private driver for our multi-day trip around the west coast, to include a tour of Palermo food market and transportation to the ferry service in Pozzallo. Josie was fantastic! She assisted with planning the days/sights in advance. The price was very reasonable. She was a pleasure to be around, and shared her knowledge of the various areas. She was always early, and easily adjusted schedules based on our needs/requests. The van was very comfy and had excellent AC (a must during Sicilian summers!). I travel extensively, and usually just explore on my own, but wanted the ease of a seasoned guide. It was fantastic! I very highly recommend Insight Italy!!

Sicily has always been one of the items on my Bucket list. It is however rather hard to tour the island because we are a small family group used to ‘do it yourself’ private leisurely tours. That is until we found Salvatore Coppola.
Sal owns a small company with a fleet of well maintained Mercedes vans and a staff of experienced drivers. He provides transportation around all of Sicily. He would give suggestions on itinerary and lodging but you are always in charge of the places you want to go. He will accommodate all reasonable requests.
We spent eight days in Sicily in late October 2023: 4 nights in Palermo and two nights each in Taormina and Syracuse. This gave us a good opportunity to appreciate the beauty of Sicily.
Sal is a very good driver with a fine sense of humour. He is also a very pleasant travel companion. Being a native son he knows practically everybody in Sicily. Everywhere we went we bumped into his friends. This helped us open doors to many nice, small, family restaurants off the beaten path. The food he introduced to us were not the usual touristy dishes.
All in all we enjoyed our trip in Sicily thoroughly, thanks to Sal and his company. If you are looking for reliable transportation and experienced driver and guide you cannot go wrong with Salvatore Coppola.

We can’t say enough about our wonderful driver, Josie. Our group of 6 traveled from Palermo, to Trapani, Sciacca, Agrigento, Lercara Friddi, Roccapalumba, Cefalu, Siracusa, Ortigia & back to Palermo. At each stop & along the way, she showed us points of interest: salt flats, Greek ruins, beaches, palaces, churches, etc. It was amazing how knowledgeable & entertaining she was. The restaurants she recommended were spot on. She stopped @ a gas station w/ the best pastry, cheese & panini, only a local would know. Some reviews said it was pricey, but w/ a group it is definitely worth it.

WoW!!! Our expectations were minimal when we hired Insight Sicily to take us to see where the grandparents were raised. We knew we would see some beautiful parts of Sicily, if nothing else.
What a wonderful surprise as Sal found many, many cousins in the town of Sambuca.
Not only was he helpful with making connections, but he directed language and questions expertly. His language skills are outstanding!
We were completely overwhelmed and happy when experiencing the, off the beaten path, drive from Sambuca to Castellammare del Golfo.
But wait there’s more…… Yes, we were more surprised to find another side of the family and many gravestones in the cemetery in Castellammare.
We would give Insight Sicily ten stars if we could!
They are the best, from the early and often communication with Josie to the PERFECT day spent relative hunting, We highly recommend this company!!!

Salvatore of Insight Sicily was amazing! From the moment he picked us up in the morning until he dropped us off in the evening, he was friendly, professional, knowledgeable and fun. We set out for Corleone to find information on my Sicilian ancestors and by the end of the day, we had not only found the records at City Hall but also left with an official certificate of birth. In addition, we visited the original home of my grandfather and met the neighbors. All that and more…delicious meals and snacks, touring churches and a couple museums…truly, all the good things of that day went on and on. I highly recommend Salvatore…hire this guy!

We spent two full days with Josie as our driver/guide. Sal was already booked, so Jose was assigned as our driver for day one. Our visit was to discover my wife's Sicilian ancestry, from the town of Lercara Friddi, outide of Palermo. We had already obtained some documents from Marcello D'Aleo (sicilygenealogy.com), who in addition to Rick Steves Guidebook, had also recommended Sal. Even before we arrived in Sicily, Josie had been able to obtain additional information directly from the Lercara Friddi town hall and cemetery. She had also arranged a private visit of the Frank Sinatra Museum in Lercara Friddi (my wife's paternal grandmother's surname is Sinatra and she was born in Lercara Friddi). Josie's english language skills are excellent and she translated as we walked around town, visited many places, and met many different people, including many with the same surnames in my wife's family tree. The highlight was visiting the ancestral home of my wife's family from the early 1800s until the early 1900s. On the second day we had a wonderful visit to Monreale, Trapani, and Erice. If you are looking for a driver/tour guide, you have found the right company. Their rates were excellent, their customer service was second to none, and Josie's knowledge of various sites was incredible. We opted for Josie on the second day too, as I am almost certain that she has to be better than Sal (but don't tell him that!). Seriously though, you won't go wrong with Insight. True Professionals!

Insight Sicily,
We recently spent seven days in Sicily and hired Insight Sicily as our drivers and tour guides. From the initial outreach on planning our trip, Salvatore Coppola was responsive and provided great recommendations on sites, stops and adventures for us to see on our Sicily Journey.
From our initial airport pickup with Giuseppe, to our daily tours and adventures with Giuseppina, we received excellent customer service at every touch. Giuseppina was our tour guide and driver throughout our trips from Palermo to our journey to Taormina onto Syracuse and she was awesome. Her knowledge of Sicilian culture and history of was outstanding, and at each stop along the way she provided excellent recommendations for restaurant and sights to see. She is also an amazing person who is friendly and easy to get to know, and she became a fun travel companion.
We also had the opportunity to get to know Salvatore, as he drove us to the airport for our departure. Great conversation and just like Giuseppina, his passion for Sicily is above and beyond.
We strongly recommend Insight Sicily as your tour company - and would definitely use them again on our next trip to Sicily.
Thank again Giuseppina for making our adventures so much fun and sharing your Sicilian insights. And thanks to Sal for the engaging conversation on our drive to the airport.

Our trip to Sicily in March 2023 exceeded our wildest dreams due in part to Salvatore who provided all of our transportation needs from the time of our midnight arrival in Palermo to the “must see” sites in Palmero, Agrigento, and Corleone. The attention and service we received can only be described as exceptional. He was patient, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional—always picking us up on time and demonstrating superb driving skills in the heavy Palermo traffic and along the winding roads to Agrigento and Corleone. We felt safe. Salvatore shared lots of interesting facts about the history, culture, and spoken language in the places we visited. Our overall experience was made even more memorable because of the friendship that was formed with him. Our time in Sicily was just too short.

If you are thinking of heading to Sicily don’t even think about driving or renting a car. With the small and winding roads, crazy traffic and unreliable GPS you are much better served to hire the amazing crew at Insight Sicily. Owner Salvatore Coppola was very responsive to our requests and hooked us up with one of the top drivers and tour guides on the island. Our guide Giuseppina picked us up at the airport in a spotless and gleaming Mercedes van and drove us to our Airbnb, making sure we got in safely with all of our luggage, and gave us recommendations for local things to do in Palermo. The next day Giuseppina picked us up and took us to our great grandfather‘s hometown of San Giuseppe Jato. Giuseppina listened with care to all of the family details we had preserved throughout the generations and she helped us locate the cemetery where they were buried and even found the tomb of our ancestors! It was an amazing experience. She also helped us locate where our former relatives had lived and even used an old phonebook to help us locate other relatives. Her English was impeccable and her driving skills were top-notch. For four women traveling alone we were extremely grateful and felt lucky to be connected to probably the only certified female tour guide and driver on the island. If you are coming to Sicily don’t even think about using anyone else. Insight Sicily is the best. The attention to detail and friendliness was above and beyond what we had expected.
