On the last day of our 12 days vacation in Porto Istana, we took one last swimm on the beach and in the meantime our rent a car was robbed in total. The robbers took everthing, including 6 trolleys, 2 cars keys, documents of our cars parked in Venice, laptop, everything. We called the local police, they did not bother at all. Luckilly, we had a report from the police that replaced our documents for the flight. Keep your flight tickets on as many phones you can. Be careful where you park your car, our was parked on the street towards the beach where all other cars were parked.

⚠️ warning for those thinking of traveling to Sardinia.

⚠️ we have been robbed at Porto Istana, very close to Olbia.

⚠️ both locals and the Authorities confirmed the thefts are out of control at Porto Istana

⚠️ burglars broke into our rent-a-car (€ 600 damage)

⚠️ burglars stole our two trolleys (€ 4.000 worth of goods inside, we were light for the long weekend only) whilst we were at the beach, in the height of the day

⚠️ stay away from Sardinia at Porto Istana, it is dangerous

⚠️ the beach is extremely beautiful but nobody warned us, there is no control, locals said they did not see anything

The beach can beat any other best beach in the world. The inexpensive nature of the trip to this place makes it prime for overcrowding. The prices are too low that attracts too many people.

Yes it’s very busy but most of the beaches all over the island are it’s what people come for! We parked easily, preferring to pay as it was very reasonable about 1€ per hour ish but there is free parking on the road if you wish.
We skipped the first beach as that is crowded and walked round to the next beach which is slightly whiter sand and more space but you can even keep going again and always find somewhere. We visited a couple times as it’s only 15 mins from the airport so great for the last day and yes people do get close but not on top of you it’s worth it for the lovely clear water, very calm sea and a relax

One of the most beautiful beaches in this part of Sardinia. Stunning view, Maldivian blue Mediterranean sea and soft sandy beach - really paradise! Only one minor thing that in a peak season (July/August) it's crazy busy...

all the beaches in Sardinia seem to be fantastic, loved this place too. Every day we went to a different beach, this was wonderful too

This is no doubt a lovely beach, as the saying goes ‘you can’t keep a good thing down’. My visit was just after peak season but it was so crowded on Sept 9th I would hate to think what it would be like in July-August. I will not return during my 11 night visit to the area.
Advise you go to south end of beach where it is less busy and there’s a nice cafe/bar. Nice without the crowds but so many nicer places to spend a day.

We were quite disappointed with this beach after reading some good reviews on it.
This beach is relatively small in size and was very overcrowded. It is a shame as the water looks beautiful but it is very hard to find a spot to relax on the beach and there is 0 social distancing which is concerning at the moment.

Personally wouldn’t go to this beach! Tried to visit today, absolutely no space. No social distance and definitely not the beautiful beach view you would expect! My photo is the reality.
