The Tower of the Elephant is the second highest tower in Cagliari (in fact the Tower of St. Pancrazio is the highest one), but it is one of the most important symbols of the historical District of Castello and an identification sign for the whole...More

But you can get plenty of other great views around the city without the steep entry fee! With the steps and sheer drops, not such a great attraction for the young or the frail!

We were unable to access this tower, I think it may be closed for renovation. The external view is good, you can see the elephant on the side of the tower and the portcullis inside - the road goes through the base of the tower

Almost missed the elephant. It is to the left of the door, about a third of the way up. Beautifully restored part of the old fortifications.

An interesting 42m – high tower currently close for renovation. Built in 1307 as a defence against the threatening Aragonese. One can see the inner portcullies of the tower. Around many restaurants with nice view of the city. Worth of climb up the hill.

From the outside is an impressive tower, nice to see it being a part of the defensive structures of the old Cagliari. But you can't visit it and it seems that the restauration should have ended already some time ago.

Saw it form below at a distance, and the wandering round accidently found it up the hill. A small elephant, but worth a photo.

The tower is closed for repairs and shrouded on one side with plastic and scaffolding. It is worth seeing from the outside, but it was disappointing not to be able to access the views from the top.

What a shame that the building was being repaired and that one side therefore was covered in scaffolding.

A bit of a climb but it’s worth it for the views. We were lucky it was a beautifully clear day, Cagliari lay before us like a large scale model. Well worth a visit.
