Given that my entire family and I have always been customers of "un box" and we ONLY buy from them, except for what they don't sell. We bought 8 cuttlefish, a large sea bream, two large sea bass and an octopus. Spent €84, bought everything at full price. (Cuttlefish €20 per kg; sea bream and sea bass €25 per kg and octopus whose price I don't remember). I ask the fishmonger to kindly clean what I purchased and in the meantime we move to another stall to buy some cod and seafood. Before moving on, the fishmonger shows us a clean, headless cuttlefish and tells us he's giving it to us. We come back, pay, collect the nice clean shopping and thank you for the free cuttlefish. When we arrive home we find the following unpleasant surprise: 8 cuttlefish bodies and 7 heads instead of 8! This means that the infamous clean headless cuttlefish "as a gift" was put in place of a whole one, so not only did he not give me anything but what's more he kept the whole cuttlefish that I paid for! So I ask myself, can one be more miserable??? These rip-offs are not done to anyone because the customer deserves respect, he pays a lot and if you, the seller, are there it is thanks to him, but even more so they are not done with decades-long customers, who always buy from you and don't ask for anything (discounts, etc. ) if not the courtesy of cleaning his fish. So, next time if I ask for this service, I will stay there permanently instead of moving, I wouldn't want "is manixius", as we say in Cagliari, to be a practice and one thing is certain, with us that box has CLOSED and thank you that I don't write the box number or even the name of those who get lost in these vile things that have the limit of only occurring once, alas! P.s. I feel sorry for the other sellers of that box, renowned for freshness and seriousness.

Fabulous market! Smelled of fresh strawberries and cheese when we were there! So colorful and diverse booths. Clearly the locals buy all of their groceries at this market. The vendors seem to know the regular customers. The area around the indoor market has clothing, linens, etc as well.

I appreciate that the vendors were very helpful but not pushy.

This is a traditional indoor market where the locals shop which was amazingly laid out, colourful and precise. The fruit and veg was immaculate, along with the meat, cheese, bread, cakes and savoury pies was lovely to see, also tried a pie which was tasty. There were a few coffee stalls around where we had a coffee at one, it was a great experience mixing with the locals although not much English but managed to converse with a few of the butchers selling the horse meat and having a laugh. Worth a visit.

Large, very well-stocked market, aesthetically beautiful... you can smell Sardinia. All in all, however, apart from the colours, if you don't want to take anything there isn't much to do, the stalls sell fruit, vegetables and meat, and not much changes from one another...
does its duty.

We like to visit the local market if we have time. We did and enjoyed it. It’s located near the centre. The building itself is large and simple but inside the rich selection of goods is incredible! We just wandering among stalls and we were amazed. We bought fresh salmon, other fish and srimps, cheese, ham, olives to cook them in our apartment instead of eating in a restaurant. We ate lots of fruit, too. We enjoyed it!

Nothing extraordinary, just market halls.
They sell it to us as a superb market, there are just stalls (many of which are redundant) in a poorly maintained building (like many things in Cagliari in fact...)
Having done the Boqueria market in Barcelona, it's incommensurable, Barcelona is really much better.

It's a very fun place, a market place to visit if you don't even want to go to buy food.
I went to visit with my friends and we had a very nice meeting with the King of the market. Luigi Gigi, also known as Luigi Gigi, is a very sympathetic gentleman, very friendly, sociable, has been in Sardegna for 20 years. He is Romanian, but as he said, I am from here now. He has adapted himself to the city very well, he has been living there for 20 years. There are many different and wonderful flavors in his shop. I recommend him. You can go and have a glass of wine and some wonderful kashar cheese, according to your taste.

Unlike other Italian cities, where markets have a century-old history, San Benedetto is indecently young. It was founded most recently in 1957. The reason is simple, its predecessor Largo Carlo Felice was demolished by bombing Allied aircraft in World War II. Despite the fact that there are several more markets in the relatively small Cagliari, San Benedetto turned out to be a very large market. Its area is 8000 sq.m. on 2 floors. It is the largest market in Italy and one of the largest in Europe. Maybe the reason is the Sardinians' love for fresh products and the very process of market trading, which you are deprived of in soulless hypermarkets. Probably, the reason for the popularity of San Benedetto is the sellers. They are surprisingly friendly and tactful. We came to buy fruit, cheese, ham and olives for the road. It was already late, some of the traders were already winding down, but the market did not lose its appeal. On the market you can buy the main specialties of Sardinia - Bottarga (dried caviar), Prickly pear, the famous Sardinian honey and, of course, Pecorino cheese. The first three delicacies are for an amateur, but Sardinian cheese is worth trying for everyone. Pecorino sardo can be sweet (dolce) or mature (mature) depending on the aging period.

This is a two story local market that is loads of fun. We ambled through the fish section and then went upstairs. So many stands and types of products. Every time we would stop to look at the meats or vegetables, the vendor gave us samples. One place even gave us a whole bottle of wine to have with our meat and cheese samples. You get a realistic view of the daily diet and shopping of the locals. Extremely friendly and interesting place.

Very interesting market for a look at typical foods of sardinia. We went on a Monday which I think is not the best day as most of the fish stalls were closed as well as a few others. It is extensive over two floors and still very much used by locals.
