About
Rachel and Colin welcome you on board Andrea Jensen, an 84 year old traditional gaff ketch. A day trip exploring the spectacular coast and Marine Reserve around the Alghero coast. Avoid crowded beaches and enjoy the Mediterranean in peace and tranquility. The trip appeals to all ages. We moor in beautiful, clear, calm bays for lunch, swimming and snorkeling (equipment provided). A freshly prepared lunch is included with a choice of local wines. The food that we offer is all bought fresh daily. We only take small groups so that we can provide a quality service ensuring ample space for relaxing and sunbathing (20m open deck), a welcome alternative to boats of the same size or smaller that take over 70 people! A good chance of watching dolphins from our bow net, makes this a memorable sailing trip. Help raise the big, red sails to experience an amazing day. Red and White wines are bought from Santa Maria La Palma, local Co-Operative. We speak, English, Scottish and are learning Italian.

We had a very nice and lovely boat trip with the Andrea Jensen crew. They are very flexible people and we were lucky to book at the last minute. We joined another 8 people so there was plenty of space "it felt like a private tour". When sailing we were offered drinks. Then after arrival to Capo Caccia the crew offered us their 2 course lunch. Very tasty Italian cuisine and very generous portions. Of course we had time to swim and to enjoy the lovely weather. After that we headed back to Alghero. The whole trip lasted from 10 a.m to 17.00 p.m.
We highly recommend their services to anyone who is interested to sail around the Alghero coast.

A great day out and good value for money. Rachel and Colin were excellent hosts helped by their crew member Constance. The advantage of this trip is that is is restricted to 12 so plenty of room to move around. We stopped for a lunch which consisted of cold meats, cheeses and salads followed by a hot pasta dish, all and served with wine and beer. We had the opportunity to go swimming and snorkelling and in the afternoon got the opportunity to help raise the sails which was great fun.

I would definitely recommend this trip.

I love Sardinia and whenever I visit Alghero I have to go on this boat trip on the Andrea Jensen at least once! It is amazing! Beautiful old wooden sailing boat that has been loving refurbished and is well taken care of by Colin and Rachel. The lunch provided is freshly made on board and delicious. The sea and the coastline are really beautiful and the swimming and snorkelling really nice. It is a fantastic and relaxing day out that is not to be missed! I will be back again in September this year no doubt.

This is the first time I've ever written to Tripadvisor~or any other tourist information service~but I do want to share a brilliant experience my wife, son and I had on a recent holiday in Alghero.
We had a day trip on the sailing boat, Andrea Jensen, and it was simply stunning: we had over eight hours of relaxing and peacful sailing (with the motor also being used at times), beautiful scenery around Cappo Caccia, swimming in crystal-clear, warm waters and occasional bursts of activity such as hoisting sails. Peerhaps the highlight was watching dolphins swimming under the bows of the boat.
The thing that impressed~and surprised~us most, however, was the level of service: the very friendly English-speaking crew provided tea, coffee and mineral iced water throughout the day; Lunch was superb, consisting of fresh salads, meats, cheese, pasta, meoln and fruit; beers and excellent wines were generously provided. A family f Italians who were also with us, were genuinely enthusiatic about the amount and quality of the food. This was a great day out!!
We booked at their table on the quayside in Alghero harbour~they take about twelve people a day. Price was 50 euros per adult, with kids half-price or free, depending on their age! There were no extras!

What a fantastic attraction. A boat trip like no other, a select number of guests, sail on a traditional boat to some secluded coves, use the diving equipment, eat a traditional Sardinian lunch and get involved in putting the sails up. The price is more than the usual boat excursions, where you're cramped on like sardines, but this is definitely worth it and will be the highlight of your holiday.

Sailing on a wooden vessel is a great idea. Doing it on a well maintained one while Geoff and Viv are your hosts is best idea. The ship is fantastic, the hospitality is outstanding, food and beverages are available exactly when you just of one, the route is magnificent, the stop over for swimming is at heavenly location, the hammock. Ok, I am out of superlatives however each and every one of them is coming from the heart. No doubt it was the highlight of our week in Sardinia.

We sailed on the first trip of this season (May '09) and had a fantastic time. We had perfect weather and were very well looked after by Vivienne and Geoff. The food and drinks provided were lovely and plentiful. We had an opportunity to go swimming off the boat in a secluded cove which was an amazing experience. We also had a chance to raise the sails to come back to the port. I'd never been on a sailing trip before and would definately recommend it to anyone who is going on holiday to Sardinia and would like a bit of an adventure. Vivienne also provided us with the name of a friend who's B&B we stayed at overnight which was really lovely.

We had the most fantastic day. Beautiful boat run by an English couple who make the most amazing hosts. Introduced me and my girlfriend to the other guests (only 12 people per trip) from the outset we were given tea's and coffee's and little nibbles to eat as we sailed into the distance.

We stopped off for a swim and continued to a tiny bay where we dropped anchor for some snorkelling (all equipment provided) and a feast for lunch (my girlfriend is Vegan, we let them know and they provided a very tasty lunch for her)

We had a great laugh with all the other people on the boat and spent the afternoon diving off the boat and drinking beer and wine.

then finally on the way back we took a trip on the dinghy to take pictures of the boat with all it sails up (which we helped with) Its a very pretty boat.

after a final swim we arrived back at 6pm (after leaving at 10am)

I cant express in words how great a day it is, I am sure that there are a lot of boat trips like it but the hosts really make the difference, they seem to really care that you have a good time and will do anything to help. I am not sure if I would be so enthusiastic if I was doing it day in day out all season, but they really made us feel welcome and I would return to Sardinia simply to go on the Andrea Jensen again.

The only dissapointment was that we didn't see any dolphins, but from what I gather they appear probably 60% of the time........I will look out for them next time!

It was our 3rd day in Sardinia when we took our boat ride on the Andrea Jensen!! It was an amazing day from start to finish! The crew was so nice and accomodating! Whatever you needed they were sure to help! The food was excellent and the boat was beautiful!! My 2 children 8yrs and 6 yrs. LOVED there day on the boat and still say that it was the best day of their vacation!!! They even let the kids steer the boat! They felt like the captain. Everyone got to help raise the sails and go for a short ride on the dingy boat if you wanted to. That's when we got some awesome shots of the boat!! We snorkled on the most crystal clear waters ever and the children loved watching the fish eat pasta that they threw off the boat for the fish to eat!!! What was really great was that they only allow 12 people a day go out on the boat which makes for a very comfortable day on the boat!! Some of the other boats were craming 40 people on ! That is way to crowded for my taste!! In my opinion you should not leave Alghero before you spend the day on the Andrea Jensen!!! It is well worth the money!!!
