First off, don’t be deceived by the good reviews here. Ok, the view and setting are fantastic and I have no complaints there. However, and this is where you need to pay attention, ALL THE DRINKS ARE WATERED DOWN!!! We had 8 cocktails each, all different ones, and we left completely sober (unusual for 8 cocktails right?) I don’t drink much but I know my alcohol and after investigating things further we were told by locals that not only do they water down the spirits, they also switch branded spirits for cheaper knockoffs. The trick here is the staff are very friendly and you think you are getting a great service and a good night out….please please please don’t be fooled here and let them take your hard earned money. There are so many better places to go in Alghero, this place only does well because it’s right on the beach and a tourist trap. Also, I noticed some shady characters sitting in front of the bar, they never ordered a drink but instead were watching tourists all night long.

Rude and pretentious staff. Ordered 2 tuna sandwiches, they only had enough tuna to provide 1 sandwich and made no apology for it.
Then overcharged us for the both sandwiches, again no apology for the error.
Reluctance from the waitress to allow us to split the bill 2 ways, lots of huffing and puffing to illustrate her annoyance.
Drinks were ok but would not return due to poor attitude of staff.
Waitress laughed in our faces when told the customer service was very poor.

Superb place for a drink stop. Really good service, prices are OK, heart music, great seating, great atmosphere, whatever time you visit. Great views over the beach to the old town. Faults..too comfortable, we didn't want to leave....

Recently I stopped for a drink at this bar. I noticed a life size doll placed on a chair. A closer look revealed blood coming out of her mouth, and on her hand. As I walked to the bar counter I noticed another dead doll, emaciated, her body covered in blood, chained to the bar door.I felt offended. I said to one of the bar owners that it was a terrible sight. He replied it was his ex dipendente, and when I didn't laugh, said it was a joke. And that none of it was to be taken seriously. A friend told me later that there were other dead dolls on site. I wonder what kind of people the owners are that they think this is normal. If it was an animal chained up people would be outraged. Bleeding, dead female dolls are distasteful and misogynist.

Cocktails were good, but I felt sad as a tourist that they gave us worse service than what they did for the locals. All local-looking guests got free snacks, happy service and help with the chairs etc, but not tourists. This happened several times during the same week, since we tend to make a stop around there during our walk from the old town to the hotel.

They have the tastiest analocoholic drink ever. Combined with a fantastic view this is absolutely the best spot to sit and watch people walking by.

Wwe liked to have beer in this bar. Coctails were not that good, too sweet for us with lack of alcohol. Staff was really nice.

We love, love, love the Maracaibo. Great location at the Lido area overlooking the beach. Great music playing and a group on when we were there on a Saturday evening! Great edgy feel. You can literally sit and watch the world go by and drink amazing cocktails or anything else you might fancy! Everyone goes to the Maracaibo!! Its absolutely the place to be! Staff are brill, service with a smile!

Not as massive and the pictures make you think. It's also not a "club" well not in September. It's still really nice and more enjoyable as a chilled cocktail bar on the beach. I suggest you get the cocktail in a bath tub!

Since april, I regularly go to this bar with my Friends and my overall opinion is positive. I love the position directly in front of the beach, next to other nice bars and with a summer flair. They have a fair selection of drinks (especially cocktails), not too overprized, and great decoration. Not to forget about one guy who comes there everyday to dance! The only problem we encounter quite often is the service quality of the waitresses. While the barmen speak english and are very friendly, those girls don't understand a Thing and usually don't even try to smile. When i speak italian it is fine, but since this is a tourist destination, i would recommend at least some effort to not decrease the experience for foreign guests.
