Just returned from 3 nights in Bari where weather was a warm 22 degrees during the day and sunny (apparently had rained for most of the previous week). A lovely city for a short break in good weather - if bad weather you probably need to like churches and shopping) . The old town is nice with plenty of places to eat. The Piazza Mercantile and the Piazza Del Ferrarese have plenty of places to eat and life in them until late in the evening. Just outside the old town is Corsa Vittoria Emanuele 11, which has lots of restaurants, and off this are many busy streets which lead down towards the railway station (a 10-15 walk from the old town) including the Via Sporano Da Bari which is full of designer shops. On top of all that the sea is a few minutes walk away with mostly nice views and walks-only bit i wouldn't recommend is the port side of the promontory (Corso Antonio De Tulia) which really has only the entry to the port. This city has a large University and was rammed with people on Saturday night and to a slightly lesser extent Sunday and had a nice feel to it. A place worth a visit

To dispel previous bad stories about the city, I will cut straight to the chase and say that Bari is a very charming and lively city with many sights and nice shops. During the day and at night, the city is certainly not unsafe and fun to explore.
Truly an unforgettable pearl.

Bari, known for the "Nudelgasse", is worth a visit. Whether you stroll through the beautiful old town or go to the castle - there is something to discover everywhere. We were lucky that the city was not too crowded, so we had enough peace to look at everything and enjoy. The noodle alley should not be imagined too long, we estimate times about 100 m. But very interesting. We would visit this city again.

Look for the prominent, well marked Tourist Walk signs on building edges and follow the directions. The walk covers about 20 highlighted sites and has a wonderful historic feel to it as some of the sites are hundreds of years old. I saw amazing churches, castles, museums the marina, a lighthouse and performing arts theatres. From the Swabian Castelo Normanno-Sevo you walk to the Catedrale di San Sabino, then to the famous Basilica San Nicola. The walk continues along Piazza Mercantile and Piazza del Ferrarese, then to the Theatro Margherita, Bari’s port – (Porto Vecchia), the Lungomari Murat promenade to see the Theatro Petruzzelli. It’s a magical route – well planned.

This place is a wonderful place to experience the true old Italian ways of living. In fact, lots of people still life in old towns and have their survival from their stores and restaurants. A good way to know the area is just to walk and wander around observing places and people.

The city center is beautiful and also has a lot to offer. Castle from the Sveve era and beautiful churches as e.g. San Sabino and San Nicolas. Besides that lots of little shops and pasta makers who can see at work live.

The historic centre of Bari is worth a visit for all visitors. The old houses, palaces, the many churches (San Nicola, San Sabino etc.) and the large squares are very interesting. Sitting on the seafront or wandering aimlessly around the narrow cobbled streets is a great experience. It has a special vibe.

The city of Bari is the capital of Puglia region, in South Italy. Friendly people, excellent foods and a lot of monuments.

It was a great pleasure for us to wander around the narrow streets of the historical centre of Bari. We did not have any plan at all, simply wanted to be there, to feel the atmosphere and eventually to buy some souvenirs.
It was also a really special afternoon for us, as it was the end of our extraordinary trip to Puglia. We visited once again all the places we saw four days ago, this time in a more leisurely manner.

Quindi non è più pericoloso addentrarsi in Bari vecchia? Un tempo il rischio di essere scippati era altissimo.

A noi è sembrato tranquillo sinceramente. Abbiamo girato con bambini e non ci siamo sentiti in "pericolo".
