This coastal promenade is considered one of Italy's longest. But, like any other seaside community's walk along the sea shore, there are some things that you need to consider - smells, sights and squawking birds included. It's also busy, especially at night and noisy, almost all the time.
Alongside part of the promenade, people were sunbathing on rocks and large boulders - there was really no sand. It's an interesting walk that for some reason has become bigger than it actually is.

Bari, is the capital of Puglia in the south of Italy.... the heel of the boot.
It has a lovely water front walk along the walls of the old city near the swabian castle. The modern part of the city has many old buildings peppered throughout . Lovely architecture. The Basilica of San Nicola is very beautiful. Lots of restaurants and good shopping make this town a good destination for a day trip.

It's highly suggested to take a walk along the waterfront (Viale Venezia), on the top of the old city walls, which passes by the Fortino of Saint Antony (an old fort recently turned into a modern art gallery) and the former Monastery of Saint Scolastica.

Bari is a "bellissima" city as they say into Italian language . Murat quarters are very nice. Lots of shops, cafés, restaurants and tipical food.
Few blocks from Murat streets you can walk to Lungomare for a relaxing promenade.
Lungomare is fabulous and crowded of local people and tourists.
We move by bus, comfortable and very cheap. People are so friendly and helpful. Weather always sunny.
We'll surely come back soon!

Lungomare Murat is the main window of Bari along the sea. It starts from cinema Margherita (which is slowly becoming a nice place for exhibitions and performances) and goes southeast up to the Pane e Pomodoro (bread & tomato) beach. The lungomare is sided by several beautiful buildings, most of them clearly show the imposing and awe-inspiring architecture typical of the fascist era and are among the most impressive buildings in Bari. Particularly fascinating is to walk along the Lungomare at sunset (or if possible, at sunrise), you will not easily forget the experience.

The place is an icon for the city, everybody does the walk or run along the sea. The path starts from the cinema Margherita (under maintenance since more than 30 years) and ends at a public beach. Are a couple of kilometers of walk having the sea on one side and some nice buildings from the past century such as the Air Force Command, the Regional Government, etc. Bring some water with you as there are no facilities on the path.

Bari is a very spread out city and you'll need to plan your visit accordingly. If you are interested in shopping there are many areas not just one .. The 'old' quarter near the sea isn't all that old compared we other Puglia towns but worth a wander. What a shame that everything in Bari is covered in graffiti! And that the charming harbour is full of rubbish! If tourism is the main economy then let's get this and the signage right, please ...

Lungo Mare is the name that every street that walks along the see has in Italy or Spain. In Bari you can take a very picturesque walk along the water. The walk in nicer especially at night fall when all the lights of the city are reflecting in the watter. It is a very romantic walk.
Bari doesn't have a beach and doesn't have any terraces or nice places to relax and drink something. But is still a nice walk to take.

Wonderful places to take a leisurely stroll along the edge of the sea. Smell the air. Partake in the wind blowing inshore.
