Luogo che trapela storia e che fa emozionare!
I was there with my family to pay tribute to the fallen, buried here, of my country.
Caretaker Carofiglio and Corporal Sozio Mimmo were extremely helpful in the search for the fallen.
The care with which the shrine is preserved honors the rest of the nearly 80000 fallen buried here.

Obviously not many think to include a war memorial/cemetery among tourist attractions but this is definetely a place to include in your itinerary. It doesn't take long to visit but it is a moving experience to see a place where 75.000 men are buried as well as arms and war paraphernalias of the two great wars.
If nothing else it is a gesture of respect to those who made our modern lives possible.

We went to find the resting place of a relative and the staff were really helpful in locating it. The setting overlooking the ocean is lovely, the whole memorial is very tranquil and respectful, there is a small museum (a knowledge of Italian would be useful, but not completely necessary when viewing the exhibits and photos) and chapel to the side. It's a little bit out of the city of Bari and we went there by taxi, and arranged for the driver to pick us up again. This cemetery (or sacrarium) is for Italian military, Bari also has a Commonwealth Graves cemetery for British and Commonwealth military.

Sacred place, full of spirituality and patriotism. Luca, the caretaker, was very kind and answered all our questions. Every Patriot should visit this place

Large spaces, lawns as well looked after as home gardens, Italian flags blown by a breeze that smells of the sea. The Shrine is made of white marble, and looking at the top of the access staircase, you can sense its sacredness. You enter and are left speechless, a tumult of emotions, a great emotion in seeing the various sectors, where civilians, soldiers and persecuted people rest, as well as Our Unknown Soldier Boys, Our Boys of whom we only have the Name, and the columbaria in which they rest Our Boys, identifiable by the names engraved in the bronze plates, which seal their mortal remains. To visit our Uncle, who died in Tobruk in Libya, we were welcomed and accompanied with competence, and helped with brotherly behavior and discretion, by the Collaborators of the Institutions. An indescribable emotion, seeing the name of our relative which identifies his burial place, and with what care the memory is preserved. Memory of Extreme Sacrifices, of unknown People from everywhere, in this place, we felt a singular feeling of friendship and community, as if the whole context and all those names were acquaintances. Our deepest thanks go to them. “Honor and Respect for All the Fallen, with a Prayer and/or a Thought.” Thanks: Anna Rossi and Rita Rossi Bologna/Bari, 31.8.2023
