- FrancescoFlorence, Italy3 contributionsto visitThis place is definitely worth a visit while being in Bari. Even during rainy days, we found one granny selling pasta and giving kind advices on how to cook pasta to a tourist couple, despite the language barrier. I am for sure going back for summer!Visited January 2024Traveled with friendsWritten February 6, 2024
- Jennifer DWestern Australia, Australia1,224 contributionsWorth a stroll down this streetNice to stroll this street and see the ladies making fresh orichette pasta. It is on sale for 5 euros per kilo. Can also buy in half kilo lots. If you are in the Old Town it's a must.Visited March 2024Traveled soloWritten March 30, 2024
- EbstMilan, Italy129 contributionsThank you Mrs Nunzia! We purchased two kilos of orecchiette from Mrs. Nunzia, of different types, to be tasted by friends and relatives. A resounding success, nothing to do with the industrial ones, really delicious! Of course the price isn't like a supermarket one, but it's absolutely worth it! Closed in the bag they remain perfect for days without the slightest trace of mould. The weight was correct.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 6, 2024
- Tonia d16 contributionsOrecchiette of Mrs. NunziaWe ate and purchased from Mrs. Nunzia! 2 adults and 2 children a first each "only that you can eat" and 3 bottles of water € 40.00 all without receipt ... the orecchiette delicious! I bought along the way other bags of orecchiette and apparently no one makes a receipt bho I do not know how it is possible 🤷♀️Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 20, 2024
- Roby e Lucy da Sant'Anastasia (Na)Sant'Anastasia, Italy7,315 contributionsThe streets of orecchietteWe stayed here on 16-08-24 and while visiting the historic center we arrived in the famous Via Arco (High and Low), which are par excellence the streets of orecchiette. You can still see the ladies who, outside the house, equip themselves on the pastry boards, armed only with water, semolina and knives and work the homemade pasta. The purchase of “strascinate”, as they are called in Bari dialect, is one of the things to do during your visit to the city. It goes without saying that the peaks of production coincide with the periods of greatest tourist influx, so close to Christmas and during the summer and I do not know if this painstaking work can satisfy the amount of tourists who arrive or those who sell are the result of laboratory work. To see. Hello from Roby and Lucy S. Anastasia (Na)Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 23, 2024
- Marc PLanaken, Belgium3,505 contributionsUnique and commercial.Out early to see these ladies live. Picturesque street, very intimate, but also very busy, in other words a tourist attraction. Orrechiette in all colors and literally ready in an instant. Nice to see how these ladies, seemingly indifferent to the environment, handle their morning shift. Highly recommended.Visited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 3, 2024
- LysandeSickanLinköping, Sweden137 contributionsFun to seeThere were like three ladies who were active. Nice to see how they make their pasta. Extremely fast! Bought a bag for 2.5 euros to support the business. They also sold sun-dried tomatoes and tarrelli, unclear if it was something they made themselves.Visited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 17, 2024
- ENZO CUdine, Italy117 contributionsATMOSPHERE IN BARI VECCHIAWell little road really nice and worth visiting. You will find local women selling orecchiette (handmade by them) in front of their houses located in the Old Bari. Walk and watch calmly because all the ladies keep talking to each other and let you watch quietly. Prices are high (5 euros per kilo) but you are not forced to buy.Visited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 25, 2024
- OscarAbellaVilla Ramallo, Argentina1,402 contributionsDiscovering the culinary tradition with the OrecchietteIn Bari, Orecchiette is more than just a pasty; it is a deeply rooted culinary tradition. The city is full of small workshops and markets where you can see how these small “ears” are made in a handmade way. Trying them at one of the local restaurants is a delight that you can not miss. It is an experience that connects gastronomy with the culture and history of Bari.Visited October 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten November 10, 2024
- The MADjar’sStockholm, Sweden14 contributionsLOVE THE EXPERIENCE!A little tricky to find the street. Everything is over priced when it’s tourist season but worth the experience and buying the handmade pasta and other goodies from these locals is a good way to give back to their community. Calabria is our favorite region to visit as we own a house in Calabria. Love the food way better than northern Italy!!!Visited January 2025Traveled with friendsWritten January 14, 2025

Seeing these people work the orecchiette in real time is truly a very pleasant sight.
In my opinion they don't even cost a lot if you want to buy them.
If you pass by Bari, I would frankly give you a quick tour ❤️

While walking small cobbled streets of old city Bari Vecchia I come across this special area. It was great to see how the typical local pasta is being made bus skilfully women. And of course you can buy them and take some eatable souvenir. Small/big bag 2€ to 5€.

We went to old Bari with a couple of friends, we were excited because we wanted to visit and eat the much-vaunted orecchiette. We ate so to speak ... we do not recommend eating and buying orecchiette there, the street is only for beauty and to visit. However, we recommend eating the pasticciotto at Martinucci.

Catch tourist, when some of the industrial packages of cardboard to put them in small plastic bags to make believe in home production. And that blonde lady who makes you buy a bag of not dry pasta that after two days is all moldy. Yet she is kind, she passes you the hand around the shot makes you go behind her stand. Total for 500g of dough and cupcakes 12th! And the pasta is in the garbage. In fact on this street it is interesting to just take pictures.

Small street, well-kept and clean. Nice people. Made a purchase of 6 bags of 500g. Equal prices among all sellers. I arrive home and find the 400g bags. and what's more, no one gives receipts... I was honestly disappointed

Bari and old Bari, beautiful and fascinating.
Attracted by the much vaunted, I must say that apart from the typicality and location of the place, I found this "affair" of the orecchiette quite picturesque with a purely tourist flavor to be "pitched" at most to foreigners.
It would be more truthful and rewarding to join and create a production and sales cooperative...
There was very little of fresh work to sell, the rest was clearly not handmade, no!

Ladies sit outside their homes making orecchiette pasta! Their pasta is sold fresh from the street. They form the shape using their thumb, making it look easy, and spread them on trays to dry.

You have to visit the small street. Just some steps from from the Bari castle. It is always interesting to see how a local specialty is being made. I would not buy them due to hygiene reasons, but curious and the street is nice.

Ciao. E' una strada pubblica sulla quale privati vendono prodotti fatti in casa (quindi non esitono orari). Io l'ho visitata proprio di domenica e ho trovato quello che cercavo.
