- royufuJapan2,113 contributionsVerona's main stationAlthough this is the central station in Verona, it is quite far from the center of Verona, and although there are a few simple cafes, the surrounding area is fairly quiet. If you are looking to book a hotel, unless you have to get up early in the morning, I think you will have a more fulfilling stay if you stay in the center rather than near the station. Lines depart from here to southern Germany via Tyrol, so there is a counter for not only Trenitalia but also DB on the premises.Visited September 2023Traveled soloWritten February 26, 2024
- Brown_SamanthaKennewick, Washington1,825 contributionsEasy train station to navigate and travel in and out of VeronaWe arrived to Verona from Varenna via Milan, getting here was pretty easy. Note there are lifts but walking down the steps with luggage was doable, just have to watch the crowds. It was easy to get a taxi to our hotel. On our way back here, to catch a train to Milan, we arrived a little bit early. Plenty of food options for a quick lunch. Once the train track was posted for our train, we just made our way there to catch the train. Easy peasy.Visited June 2024Traveled with friendsWritten July 14, 2024
- bagnistazione3 contributionsPromoted bathrooms with social anxiety1 euro well spent because they are clean. Being a big station there is an incredible mess, but the line is run by two girls who manage to multitask while continuing to clean and telling people where to put the money. Promoted with social anxiety. Anxiety generated by the fact that people are banging on the doors despite being clearly closed.Visited December 2024Traveled soloWritten December 6, 2024

Porta Nuova station is slightly outside the center although you can get there on foot in twenty minutes. Unfortunately, the various road works that have been going on for some time do not facilitate crossings on foot. The inside of the station is quite functional albeit with very few benches and only two fast food restaurant places.

September '23. Have just tried to drive to the station to catch the train to Venice, with half hour leeway in the plan. Massive road works in front of the station causing traffic disruption then TomTom app, supposedly taking me to the station car park, directed me through the bus station / taxi rank. Absolutely no sign anywhere of station parking.
We eventually found a car park a walk away, now having a coffee to fill the hour to the next train after the one we missed.

A big station with some shopping options and a couple cafe places.
Its a 20-minute walk from the city centre if you want to walk there.
Very easy to find it and easy for strollers as well (to get there).

Well-organised large station.
Inside there are: a large ticket office; myriads of self-service ticket machines; several eateries; a stall for the rival ITALO train service; left luggage; quite a few shops; etc.
It's easy to walk down a tunnel to the different platforms. Like in every station in Italy, there are large posters listing all the arrivals and departures in chronological order with destination/intermediate stations/platform number. Couldn't be clearer,
The bus station outside has the yellow-orange buses that serve the town, and blue buses that connect with the surrounding small towns & villages. Also a taxi rank. The special airport bus as well.

Friend and I rented a flat in Verona for 9 days and took many day trips booking from the Trenitalia website. It’s very easy to use, you can change ticket on your phone at the last minute etc.
the train station has people working that will help you find your correct track and train quickly. The station is small so not overwhelming. The fast train Frecciargento is super clean and fast, costs a little more but definitely worth it over the regional. Wish train travel was this good and extensive in the USA.

Me and my sister used the train from Venice to Verona at 11.14. We bought the tickets from the train station 10 minutes or so before departure. We had no idea about ticket validation and we didn't. When we were on the train the person validating tickets yelled at us because we didn't do it and bullied us in the train in front of the people. I told him many times in Spanish and English that I didn't have the money for the penalty and kept yelling at me. I started crying because I had only 20 Euros for the rest of he trip after he charged us 30 Euros. He kept doing this until I gave him the last money I had. we are not thieves we come to this country to travel and spent our money. I have never felt this ambarrased and bullied in my life. This man ruined the trip and made me and my sister so upset. After that I went to the customer service of trenitalia annd I was reduced to tears and they sent me away. I wonder if this is the human way of treating people in Italy.

We were pleased that Verona Station had a left luggage office. It is inside the station and is signposted so easy to find.
They only allow one person or family group into the office at a time, inside they scan your passport and give you a ticket to retrieve your luggage. At the time of writing the office is open from 8am to 8pm ( this may change so always check the internet for any changes to time and prices)
There are plenty of destination boards around the station so you can easily find which platform that your train leaves from.

Verona is a great city with lots to do and if you have a day or two, Venice is only 112 kms away (about an hour and 15 minutes in the veloce train). The train station is clearly marked with all kinds of information, very helpful personnel of Trenitalia, the train 2nd class was fantastic, very very comfortable with the train speed displayed at the front doing 160 + kms an hour. Watch out for the ticket which costs just 9.05 euros but at certain times it goes up to 22 euros each way...Yes, 9.05 euros each way to Venice...Don't miss it...

Verona Station is pretty small & not the best. Left luggage was not the usual lockers but a man behind a counter (just bordering on rudeness!) & a one out, one in system to get served! (they also do other services so you might be waiting behind someone having photocopies done!!) At the time of writing it was 6 euros per case for the first 5 hours, the guy told us to get back 3/4 hour before we needed our luggage as queues can be long...we took him at his word but there was no queue whatsoever when we returned...open 8am to 8pm
We needed bus tickets to get to the airport & saw a sign saying 'Airport Tickets' we 'queued' (although some people don't understand the concept) only to be told the tickets were sold at the Tobacconist - well duh!...another queue...but finally got them!
Signage in the Station is confusing, seating is limited, no tourist information inside,1 euro charge to use the toilets - you need change...Verona Station is a 20 minute walk from the city.
If you are taking the airport bus - ignore the massive bus station at the front of the station, you depart from a small bus shelter at the side of the station...
A few food concessions are available.
Train & ticket info opens 7am - 9pm
Can get very busy and overcrowded.
Hope this helps!
NOTE: Not being very bright, we thought Verona had two airports - Villafranca & Catullo - we need not have been confused IT HAS TWO NAMES!!!

Com'è attrezzata la stazione per cambiare binario con bici e carrellino al seguito. Ci sono ascensori per raggiungere tutti i binari? Canaline lungo le scale?

How quickly can you get to the centre of Verona (piazza Erbe or Bra) from this location? We are looking at accommodation close to this train station and wondering is it possible to walk to the city? Or if not how easy is it to take a bus or train? Thanks!!

We stayed at the Hotel Sienna in Verona 2 years ago. We travelled to Verona by train and recall a 10 - 15 minute walk from the station. According the the Hotel website it is then a 10 minute walk to the centre which from memory is correct. It was in a quiet location and would stay there again if returning to Verona. Whilst in Verona we found all the main sights within walking distance and no need to use public transport. If you do stay at Hotel Sienna there is an Ice Cream shop close by. A definite must.
