It's no wonder that this is one of the most historic and picturesque squares in Italy: in antiquity, it served as a Roman forum; today, it contains many historic buildings, sculptures with a popular and colorful market overflowing with fresh fruits and vegetables.

Nice little Piazza

Piazza has lots of restaurants and bars, also has quite a few market stalls, but these close early evening. Some nice architecture on the surrounding buildings.

We happened upon this wandering through Verona. The market has beautiful fresh fruits in it. We had one of the fruit cups which were huge. You have your choice of many different fruits in them. There is also some souvenirs here as well you can pick up. They have Italian scarves here as well. It looks like an old market.... More

This is a beautiful square. See it from the top of the Torre Lamberti for a totally different view. You will notice things you'll want to go down and see again.

However since Verona and the region was wealthy and acted as a hub for international trade in herbs (erbe), spices and gems etc, this is a greatly decorated former market place. You will not leave Verona without having seen... More

A pretty and traditional market square just near the Romeo and Juliet balcony. Nice little market - we bought some nice italian scarves at a good price.

After visiting many open markets in the world, this wasn't very impressive, like weekend market in Bangkok or london's Covent garden.

Square with a marketplace full off fresh veg and usual Italian tourist fodder. Lots of cafes, but don't forget to look up at the wall paintings on the cacades above the umbrellas
